The primary role of the Purchasing Assistant / Buyer is to serve as a point of contact for internal and external communications involving inventory purchases.
The primary role of the Purchasing Assistant / Buyer is to serve as a point of contact for internal and external communications involving inventory purchases. This includes weekly procurement activities, and may also include working on projects in product development, running various reports for determining new min/max/par inventory levels and order fulfillment rates, inventory control activities, etc.
Purchasing team members work closely with our branch sales personnel and vendors to ensure that customer orders are fulfilled as quickly as possible. Daily and weekly procurement activities will include creating purchase orders, confirming pricing, following up with vendors on past purchase orders, logging vendor sales order and estimated arrival date information in our system, etc.
The ideal candidate will have an affection toward organization and efficiency, be able to learn quickly and adapt to rapidly changing circumstances at times. Previous experience working in supply chain and identifying bottlenecks in inventory is a plus, but not required.
Compensation includes a competitive hourly rate and part-time hours, with the possibility of a full-time position at a later date, based on company growth.
> 18 years of age or older
> Excellent written and oral communication skills
> Demonstrate strong attention to detail, ability to understand business math, and a sense of urgency
> Ability to lift, slide and lower packages that typically weigh 10lbs-50lbs but can sometimes weigh up to 75lbs
> Experience with Microsoft Office 365 or similar (especially Excel) is a plus but not required
> Bilingual/multilingual is also a plus but not required
$16 - $20 per hour
