Reception Job Description

Responsibilities


  • Report to a Manager or the supervisor on duty for specific direction and daily expectations.

  • This individual is the customer’s first point of contact and must represent the company in a positive manner.

  • Receptionists should create a welcoming environment, greeting, informing, and directing customers in a courteous and professional manner, setting the customer’s expectations and the tone for their visit.

  • Greet all visitors with a smile and positive attitude, make sure to greet them in a timely manner, and make them feel welcome in the store.

  • Conduct all tasks in accordance with the Company’s current standard operating procedures and policies. 

  • Inspect visitors’ identification carefully to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. 

  • Complete customer profiles with demographic information, up-to-date contact information, and any discounts they are eligible for (senior, veteran, medical card holder). 

  • Add customers to the “queue” after ID has been verified and profile has been completed. Provide them with an estimated wait time and direct them where to wait. 

  • Ensure non-customer visitors have valid identification, are signed in and out on the visitor log, and that they do not enter limited access areas unescorted.

  • Inform customers about our current deals and promos. Answer customer questions about our product offerings. 

  • Answer phone calls in a timely manner.

  • Maintain a clean and tidy reception area, including but not limited to: cleaning and stocking the restroom, sweeping the floor and vacuuming rugs when necessary, wiping down furniture, and frequently sanitizing high-touch surfaces.

  • Understand applicable laws and regulations

  • Handle conflicts with grace, politely but firmly denying service if a visitor’s identification does not meet requirements, and encourage them to return with one that is acceptable. 

  • Ensure that the menu is always displayed on the tv. Notify management immediately of any technical issues.

  • Get a coworker to step in whenever you need a restroom/smoke/lunch break. Never leave your desk unattended.
