Cactus Cancer Society is seeking a full-time Senior Program Coordinator to join our team.  Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Sr. Program Coordinator plays a central role in planning, executing, and supporting Cactus Cancer Society’s portfolio of programs focused on creative coping and community building among young adults facing cancer.  The Sr. Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating a variety of logistical tasks, meeting program objectives efficiently and effectively, and ensuring program participants are well-supported. The ideal candidate will possess strong program planning experience, exceptional attention to detail, clear and effective written communication skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a friendly and empathetic demeanor.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Program planning and execution, including development of detailed program plans, scheduling and coordination with program facilitators, ensuring supplies are received by participants in a timely manner, coordinating program logistics, and all program participant communication in collaboration with the Chief Program Officer
  • Program facilitation, including facilitation of programs occurring outside standard office hours
  • Assist with program reporting, including surveying program participants and providing feedback on program metrics, successes, and areas for improvement
  • Program outreach, including program marketing via email and social media, and outreach to healthcare professionals working with young adults facing cancer
  • Assistance with YA Cancer Gabfest, including, logistics, speaker communication, and marketing
  • Provide administrative support for the Chief Program Officer
  • Demonstrate behaviors that align with Cactus Cancer Society’s commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and safe workplace


Where You Will Work:

This is a remote role and the candidate can be based anywhere in the contiguous US.  The ideal candidate will be comfortable working remotely with a team located throughout the US.  This position requires travel 1-3 times per year.

$47,500-$57,500/year, commensurate with experience - full time


What You Bring:

To qualify for this unique opportunity, the ideal candidate should have the following skills, education, and experience:

  • Experience in program planning and implementation, project management, or event planning for a nonprofit organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in complex tasks.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, priorities, and goals simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently.  Self-motivated to take initiative and proactively solve problems.
  • Collaborative and adaptable with an ability to interact effectively with diverse teams, program participants, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Google suite, Mailchimp, and Zoom.  Wordpress experience is preferred.  Jotform experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree - required; social work or art therapy related field preferred.
  • A strong understanding of the cancer experience is preferred, as the Sr. Program Coordinator will work directly with young adult cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.
