C.Scale Growth Engineer Remote · Full time Company website

C.Scale builds the material intelligence layer for the built environment — connecting design firms and building product manufacturers through embodied carbon data and whole-building life cycle assessment. We're hiring our first Growth Engineer to own the analytics, automation, and revenue operations infrastructure that drives commercial growth across both sides of our marketplace. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role reporting to the co-founder/COO.

About C.Scale

C.Scale (Climate Scale Inc.) is a venture-backed, San Francisco-based Public Benefit Corporation building the software and data infrastructure for whole-building life cycle assessment (WBLCA) and embodied carbon accounting in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry (AECO). Our products are used by 250+ leading design firms to measure and reduce the embodied carbon of buildings—from early schematic design through material specification—influencing over 2,500 current building projects totaling over 300 million square feet. We operate as a two-sided marketplace: AECO firms use our platform to run portfolio-wide embodied carbon analyses and meet compliance and reporting requirements like the AIA 2030 Commitment; building product manufacturers (BPMs) use C.Scale as a high-intent lead generation platform to reach design professionals before specs are written. This serves both sides by connecting supply and demand with a minimum of friction. C.Scale is a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation with a registered mission ‘to support the full decarbonization of the built environment through democratizing access to climate strategy for designers and owners of all buildings everywhere.’ Embodied carbon in buildings is a hard, underfunded problem—and we think software can actually move the needle. That’s why we exist.

Description

This role owns the systems that turn user behavior into revenue. You'll instrument the product, build the automations, and maintain the GTM infrastructure that drives pipeline on both sides of our marketplace — working directly with the co-founders and cross-functionally with product and engineering. This is a two-sided marketplace, and the growth motions are different on each side. AECO firms are acquired through product-led and community channels; BPMs are higher-touch, sales-assisted. You'll need to hold both playbooks.

~70% hands-on build and execution: analytics instrumentation, automation workflows, pipeline ops, and CRM infrastructure. ~30% strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and evolving the systems as the team scales.

This is an early hire on a small, high-output team. The co-founders are in the weeds with you. Expect direct feedback, short loops, and a lot of “what do you think?” SF Bay Area preferred, but not required for the right candidate as the work is primarily remote.

What You’ll Own

  • Product analytics: own our product analytics implementation end-to-end—event schema, dashboard build-out, cohort analyses, and retention models that inform both product decisions and sales prioritization
  • User intelligence: identify high-value user behaviors and translate product usage signals into automated engagement sequences and sales triggers across both AECO and BPM
  • Pipeline operations: maintain and extend our HubSpot infrastructure—lifecycle stages, workflows, sequences, and reporting—with a focus on velocity, volume, and scaling what we’ve already proven works
  • Agentic automation: build and operate AI-assisted workflows based on sales playbooks developed by the founders—running sequences, qualifying signals, routing leads, and continuously improving the motion
  • Stack integration: integrate data across HubSpot, Stripe, Clerk, Mixpanel, Airtable, to create a coherent view of the customer journey and eliminate manual RevOps bottlenecks as account volume grows
  • Product onboarding: collaborate with engineering and product on activation metrics and friction reduction; your analytics work directly informs how new users experience the product
  • Performance reporting: track and report on pipeline and engagement metrics; know your conversion rates, activation benchmarks, and sequence performance, and bring data-backed recommendations to improve them
  • Communications: support the COO on social media and website content — drafting posts, copy, and updates for review and implementation across LinkedIn and the C.Scale website
  • Events and conferences: assist the COO with pre- and post-event campaign workflows for virtual networking and webinars and industry conferences; this transitions to a dedicated community hire as the team scales

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Experience: 1–5 years in a growth engineering, growth analytics, or technical RevOps role at a B2B SaaS company
  • Product analytics: hands-on Mixpanel or Amplitude experience—you have built event schemas, funnels, and cohort analyses, not just read dashboards someone else built
  • CRM fluency: HubSpot workflows, sequences, lifecycle management, and custom properties; you can build and maintain the infrastructure, not just operate it
  • Technical depth: you can efficiently leverage AI tools to pull data, prototype automations, and build lightweight integrations without waiting on engineering
  • PLG familiarity: product-led growth models and activation metric design; you understand how free-to-paid conversion works at the product layer
  • Automation bias: when you do something twice, you build a system for it; you default to building and testing rather than planning and waiting
  • AI-native: you use AI tools for research, copy iteration, signal analysis, and workflow automation as a default mode of working, not a productivity experiment; you have your own workflows and you experiment with new tools
  • Communication: strong written skills—you can document what you build and explain it clearly to non-technical teammates and the founders
  • Mission alignment: genuine interest in climate tech and the decarbonization of the built environment;

Strongly Preferred

  • Agentic tooling: experience building or operating AI-assisted workflows beyond prompt-and-response—multi-step agents, automated research pipelines, or LLM-integrated sequences
  • Stack integration: experience connecting CRM, product analytics, billing, and data warehouse into a unified view, not just operating each tool independently
  • Domain exposure: familiarity with the AEC industry, life cycle assessment, or the built environment—not required, but you’ll ramp faster if you have it
  • Early-stage experience: prior experience as an early hire at a company with fewer than 20 employees; you’ve built the standard rather than inherited it

Why This Role

  • Build the foundation: you will be the first dedicated Growth Engineer at C.Scale, with real ownership of the analytics and automation infrastructure that drives commercial growth across both sides of the marketplace
  • Grow with the company: as C.Scale scales, so does this role; the person who builds the foundation has natural ownership of what it becomes—with first claim on leading whatever comes next
  • Work that matters: C.Scale is a Public Benefit Corporation with a legally registered climate mission; the buildings our customers are designing right now will stand for 50–100 years; your work accelerates how fast low-carbon materials get specified into them
  • AI-native from day one: this isn’t a company that’s figuring out how to use AI; the founders are already operating agentic workflows and building the playbooks you’ll execute and evolve
  • Small team, real access: eight people, no layers; you work directly with the co-founders and engineering team; your ideas land and your output is visible
