Tier 3 Substitute – Join the BECS Team and Support Student Success!

Job Type: Contractor | School-Based (various local school districts)

Location: Variable school locations across Washington State (see Work Locations below)

Pay Range: $27–$32 per hour


Role Overview

Tier 3 Substitutes step in to cover highly specialized or credentialed positions, including RBT, CBT, or advanced behavioral support roles, when regular staff are unavailable. This position is ideal for professionals with experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or specialized interventions, who are adaptable, professional, and committed to maintaining consistency for students. Assignments may vary across classrooms and grade levels.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct behavioral support following established behavior plans and intervention protocols.
  • Implement one-to-one interventions with students requiring specialized support.
  • Monitor and respond to student behavior using proactive and evidence-based strategies.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, BCBAs, supervisors, and school staff.
  • Assist with classroom routines, supervision, and individualized student activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and accurate documentation at all times.
  • Adapt quickly to varying assignments, classrooms, and district settings.

Requirements for Tier 3 Substitutes

  • High school diploma or equivalent (relevant credentials required).
  • Active and current RBT, CBT, or equivalent certification as applicable to assignment.
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass federal fingerprinting background check.
  • Reliable transportation (personal vehicle required; not public transit).
  • Three professional references verifying attendance and reliability.
  • Crisis intervention certification (CPI, Right Response, Safety Care) is highly desirable.

Work Locations

Please note: The term “remote” refers to variable work locations across multiple counties rather than a work-from-home position. Specific cities and worksites are determined during the interview and placement process. Our services currently extend throughout the greater Puget Sound region, including Pierce, King, Snohomish, Skagit, Thurston, Lewis, Chelan, and Douglas Counties.
