Purpose: To stock and display fresh produce while providing prompt, friendly, helpful customer service to help meet department goals for sales, margin, labor and customer service.

Responsibilities:
I.…CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Greet customers, smiling and making eye contact. Assist customers with questions, in prompt, friendly, courteous manner, referring them to others when necessary.
- Offer suggestions for purchases and ways to prepare products.
- Help customers place and fill special orders.
II. MERCHANDISING
- Replenish and rotate displays, culling several times daily, following stocking priorities set by Produce Manager.
- Trim, wash, bundle produce following priorities set by Produce Manager.
III. DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE
A. Dispose of damaged or spoiled goods promptly, properly maintaining shrink records.
- Remove trash, clean cases and keep prep and storage areas in clean orderly condition.
- Use equipment safely. Monitor cooler and walk-in temperatures and follow procedures for handling breakdowns. Advise Produce Manager of equipment repair and replacement needs.
IV. OTHER
- Perform other tasks assigned by Produce Manager.
- Participate in inventory counts.
- Attend department and storewide meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Interest in learning about produce.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work in cold, wet conditions.
- Experience serving the public.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment.
- Ability to project friendly, outgoing personality.
