TSBPE Licensing Path

TSBPE Licensing Path — Two Credentials to Earn:

①  Plumber’s Apprentice Registration — required within 60 days of your hire date. You may not perform any plumbing work in the field without this registration. Brothers Plumbing will guide you through the process.

②  Drain Cleaner’s Restricted Registration — required within 90 days of your hire date. This credential authorizes you to perform drain cleaning service calls under the Brothers Plumbing license.

The Opportunity

The Plumber’s Apprentice role at Brothers Plumbing is a structured entry point into the plumbing trade — and into a company that takes development seriously. You will work alongside licensed Journeyman and Master Plumbers on every call, learning the Five-Star Service Process, building your documented field hours, and taking on increasing responsibility as your skills grow.

From day one, you are treated as a professional in training. You will attend Tuesday Morning Training sessions, access CertainPath’s library of technical and service training, and work with a dedicated mentor assigned to your development. The path from Apprentice to Journeyman is not a mystery here. It is a table with hours, exams, and milestones — and we help you get there.

Responsibilities

Licensing & Credentials

• Obtain your Texas Plumber’s Apprentice Registration with TSBPE within 30 days of your hire date — this is required before performing any plumbing work in the field
• Obtain your Drain Cleaner’s Restricted Registration within 180 days of your hire date, enabling you to run drain cleaning service calls
• Maintain both registrations in current and good standing throughout your employment
• Actively accumulate and track documented field hours toward your Tradesman and Journeyman licensure

Learning & Development

• Apply yourself fully to learning the plumbing trade — show up to every job with curiosity, every training session with focus, and every coaching conversation with honesty
• Attend and actively participate in Tuesday Morning Training sessions and all company-provided training programs
• Learn and become proficient in the Brothers Plumbing Five-Star Service Process — all seven steps, on every call
• Learn to read work orders, identify materials, and understand job sequences under the direction of your lead technician
• Study toward your next license tier independently — Brothers Plumbing expects and supports your progression

Field Support & Service

• Assist licensed plumbers on residential and commercial service calls throughout San Angelo, Abilene, and surrounding areas
• Provide drain cleaning and other in-home service calls as authorized under your Drain Cleaner’s Restricted Registration
• Prepare the job site: lay out tools, stage materials, set up floor protection, and keep the work area organized throughout the call
• Assist the lead technician during the execution of plumbing work as directed, and ask good questions
• Perform thorough cleanup and fully restore the customer’s home before leaving every job site
• Re-check all plumbing repairs and installations after completion and before leaving the customer’s home to ensure everything is working correctly and that the job was done right the first time

Customer Service & Five-Star Process

• Learn and apply the Brothers Plumbing customer service standards on every call — professional appearance, warm greeting, respectful presence in the customer’s home
• Establish genuine customer rapport to help identify the right products and services for their situation
• Represent Brothers Plumbing with professionalism from the moment you pull into the driveway to the moment you leave
• Observe how the lead technician presents estimate options and closes the call — this is how you learn to do it yourself

Documentation & Accuracy

• Complete all required documentation accurately and on time: invoices, time cards, curbside feedback, and option sheets
• Enter all job information in Housecall Pro as directed, including photos, materials, and job notes
• Help load and restock the service van at the start and end of each day; alert the lead tech when supplies run low
• Keep the service vehicle clean, organized, and presentable at all times

Professionalism

• Arrive on time, in full uniform, and ready to work every single day
• Follow all company SOPs, Code of Ethics, and Team Rules
• Accept coaching and feedback with a growth mindset — the goal is to get better, and that requires honest feedback going both directions

What You Bring

• Physical ability for field work: lifting, crawling, working in confined spaces and outdoors in all weather
• Reliable transportation and a clean driving record

• Basic mechanical aptitude or prior hands-on work experience (construction, maintenance, or similar) is a plus
• Prior plumbing experience or technical school coursework is a plus but not required
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Physical Requirements

This is a physical job in West Texas. You should be comfortable with the following:

• Climbing ladders and working in tight, awkward, or confined spaces
• Lifting up to 50 pounds; carrying up to 25 pounds across distance
• Operating hand and power tools safely under the direction of a licensed technician
• Working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme West Texas summer heat
• Standing or working on concrete and uneven surfaces for extended periods
• Exposure to odors, sounds, dust, and debris typical of plumbing and construction environments
• Occasional workdays exceeding 8 hours when the job requires it
