If you’re a tax manager who enjoys the technical side of tax but is tired of the traditional CPA firm experience, Brooklyn Fi may be the change you’re looking for. We’re building a different kind of tax practice: technically strong, collaborative, fully remote, well-staffed, and actually enjoyable to work at. Our tax team includes 6 CPAs, 14 CFPs, and a dedicated group of tax professionals and support staff, with low turnover and a team that genuinely likes working together. You’ll review interesting individual and business returns, work through complex tax planning issues, develop junior staff, and collaborate directly with other experienced tax professionals. You still get to be a tax person. Just without many of the things that make traditional public accounting unnecessarily painful.
The Tax Manager is primarily a review and technical tax position.
You'll spend much of your time reviewing individual and business tax returns, reviewing tax projections, resolving technical issues, and helping junior staff improve their tax knowledge.
This is a great role for someone who enjoys being the person others come to with difficult tax questions and who wants to continue developing technically without spending their entire day selling work or managing client relationships. You'll work closely with our other tax managers, CPAs, CFPs, and firm leadership on complex tax matters and tax-planning opportunities.
Experience with equity compensation, including RSUs, stock options, and other equity-related tax issues, is a plus but not required. If you happen to be familiar with any of these software programs, please let us know! Lacerte, Karbon, Soraban, Loom.
We know there are plenty of places where experienced tax professionals can work.
We're trying to build the place where they want to stay.
That means surrounding you with experienced tax professionals, providing dedicated staff support, investing in technology and improved processes, and creating an environment where people can do excellent tax work without adopting every outdated tradition of public accounting.
You'll join a stable team with 6 CPAs, 14 CFPs, dedicated tax staff, low employee turnover, and leadership that actively seeks ways to improve the firm.
Brooklyn Fi combines the technical challenge of a CPA firm with the resources and broader perspective of an integrated financial planning firm.
And we think tax work should be serious without the workplace having to be.
