We are currently hiring a Directional Drill Operator/Locator to join our growing team! This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and safety-conscious individual to work in the field of underground utility installation. In this role, you will work closely with a directional drilling crew to accurately and efficiently install underground conduit and fiber using advanced HDD and locating equipment.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment and locate drill head during bore operations
  • Read and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and job plans
  • Install conduit, fiber optic cable, handholes, flowerpots, pedestals, and ROW signs
  • Perform potholing and utility verification
  • Operate and maintain various equipment including vactrons, mini-excavators, core drills, and trailers
  • Accurately complete daily reports and project documentation
  • Ensure job site safety and maintain compliance with OSHA, NESC, and company safety standards
  • Work safely in streets, alleys, manholes, trenches, and other excavation areas
  • Provide guidance and support to newer crew members when needed

Requirements:

  • Experience with directional drilling and underground utility construction preferred
  • Ability to read utility locates and operate locating equipment (DigiTrak, Subsite, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of safe digging practices and job site safety
  • Physically fit and able to work in various weather conditions
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Salary

$1,000 - $1,800 per week
