Bright Spark Brewing is hiring! With the goal of creating a warm, welcoming community space with something for everyone, Bright Spark looks forward to opening in the fall of 2022. 4561 Market Street is on its way to being transformed, with Suite A (originally home to Ventura's first brewery, Surf Brewing) and Suite C (a former cafe and dinner theatre), being combined to create a brewery, restaurant, and lounge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Maintain excellent guest experience by providing kind, helpful service throughout shifts as a team member and a respectful demeanor while on-site as a guest.

- Understand and embody Bright Spark Core Values.

- Positively engage guests, maintaining and encouraging enthusiasm for Bright Spark beer and food. 

- Provide a clean, welcoming space for guests by following open, close and mid- checklists.

- Consistently scan your service station, ensuring all guests are attended to while maintaining the cleanliness of the station.

- Be knowledgeable about Bright Spark beer and food styles to create an informative, approachable experience for guests, engaging them in adventuring for new styles or finding a new favorite.

- Confident in the pouring/serving of beer to guests safely and efficiently, including "crowlers" to-go.

- Understand food menu items, modifications allowed/encouraged, and dietary issues that might conflict with particular items.

-Safely verify that food items are given to the correct guests only after orders are verified to be prepared correctly.

- Pass all irregularities or technical issues to the Manager in a timely manner.

- Beertenders should have confidence in assessing situations/conflicts that could arise and know when to bring in a Manager if they feel uncomfortable handling anything. (cutting people off, asking people to leave, diffusing situations, making sure other guests feel safe and comfortable)

- Confidently handle cash transactions, ensuring appropriate change and efficiency during shift. 

- Be able to switch service stations as breaks become necessary for other beertenders.

- Keep an open line of internal communication throughout the shift.

- Ensure the taproom team performs to the Bright Spark Standards of Service.

- Have an upbeat attitude and a willingness to work as a team.

- Complete tasks assigned by Manager/Asst. Manager.

- Must have a sense of urgency when working and be able to multitask. 

- Be knowledgeable about our point of sale system (how to process a refund, void a payment, process and create gift cards, start/update/close tabs, etc.).

- Know how to troubleshoot taps (leaks, clogs, keg changes, etc.).

- Know how to troubleshoot the dishwasher in the event that glasses do not finish the cycle clean.


Schedule Requirements*

- Must be available to work nights and/or weekends

- Must currently have or be willing to complete RBS Certified Beer Server Certification

- Must currently have or be willing to complete ServSafe Food Handlers Certification


Pay and Benefits

- 14-16 $/hr, depending on experience, for a beertender shift

- 16-18 $/hr, depending on experience, for a PIC shift

- Paid time off for full-time employees

- Beer benefits and employee discount

$14 - $18 per hour
