Position Overview:


As a Facility Service Technician 1 at Bright Futures Learning Centers, Inc., you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of our facilities. You will work collaboratively with the facilities team to maintain a welcoming environment conducive to learning and growth for both children and staff.


Performs basic and routine facilities maintenance, construction, and repair tasks according to service, quality, and safety standards. Following standard operating procedures, installs, inspects, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management systems. Assists with miscellaneous facility projects, including painting, drywall, carpentry, installation of fixtures, and moving furniture or materials within the facility. Utilizes a work order system to log activities as required. Works with or assists trades contractors to complete projects or complex repairs. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, HVAC units, and general building repairs to ensure the ongoing functionality of the facility.
  • Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections of the premises to identify potential hazards or maintenance issues, promptly addressing any concerns to maintain a safe environment for children and staff.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and repair equipment used within the facility, including playground equipment, kitchen appliances, and educational materials, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Assist with cleaning and sanitation tasks as needed, including but not limited to mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting surfaces, and waste management, to uphold high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to facility emergencies or urgent maintenance requests, taking appropriate action to mitigate risks and minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for facility maintenance, monitoring stock levels and coordinating procurement as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs performed, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other members of the facilities team, as well as with educators and administrators, to address facility-related needs and support the overall mission of Bright Futures Learning Centers, Inc.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in facilities maintenance or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of basic maintenance procedures, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot maintenance issues, with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to facility maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed for emergency repairs or special projects.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks and lift heavy objects as required.
