About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to manage a portfolio of client engagements and help lead the timely, accurate delivery of tax services. This role serves as a primary client contact, coordinates work from intake through completion, prepares and reviews tax returns and workpapers, and supports the development of staff and offshore team members. The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax knowledge with sound judgment, proactive communication, and a commitment to quality client service.


What You'll Do

  • Manage assigned client relationships, timelines, information requests, deliverables, and follow-up.
  • Prepare and review tax returns and related workpapers across a range of client types.
  • Support Senior Staff, Staff Accountants, and offshore resources in completing assigned work while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Manage engagement workflow, monitor deadlines, and address potential delays or bottlenecks.
  • Support tax planning conversations, identify routine advisory opportunities, and escalate complex matters appropriately.
  • Delegate work, provide real-time guidance, and reinforce expectations for quality, timeliness, and accountability.
  • Contribute to team meetings, process improvements, and firmwide operational initiatives.


Strong candidates will have:

  • CPA or equivalent professional designation, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of tax preparation experience serving a range of client types.
  • Strong technical tax knowledge, analytical problem-solving skills, and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships, competing priorities, engagement workflows, and deadlines.
  • Clear communication, collaboration, mentoring, and leadership skills, with a commitment to continued professional growth.


Preferred experience includes:

  • Reviewing complex individual, partnership, S corporation, and fiduciary tax returns.
  • Managing a recurring portfolio of client relationships and serving as a trusted point of contact.
  • Supporting tax planning and advisory conversations and identifying opportunities beyond compliance work.
  • Delegating and coordinating work across onshore and offshore team members.
  • Coaching and mentoring developing accountants to strengthen technical skills, judgment, and work quality.

Salary

$85,000 - $125,000 per year
