Job Summary:

The Boys & Girls Club is seeking a motivated and responsible Summer Pool Operator to oversee safe and enjoyable swimming experiences for our members. This position plays a vital role in promoting water safety, engaging youth, and creating a positive environment at our summer pool program.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise pool activities to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper chemical balance of the pool water. (Chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness)
  • Conduct daily water testing and maintain accurate chemical logs.
  • Operate and maintain filtration, circulation, and pump systems.
  • Monitor and ensure proper storage and handling of pool chemicals in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on pool safety and operations.
  • Monitor compliance with pool rules and regulations.
  • Provide first aid and emergency response as needed.
  • Conduct swimming lessons and recreational activities for members of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Communicate with participants and parents regarding pool rules, schedules, and events.
  • Collaborate with other staff to plan and implement summer programming.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of pool-related events and activities.
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.


Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Current CPO certification.
  • Current Lifeguard Certification (CPR/AED and First Aid certifications preferred).
  • Previous experience working in a pool setting or similar environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to engage effectively with children and adolescents.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during the summer months.
  • Strong knowledge of pool chemistry, filtration systems, and aquatic safety standards.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical activities, including swimming and lifting equipment.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Salary

$17 - $24 per hour
