Youth Program Aide Intern

(for Field Study/Service-Learning Students Only)

About the Role

Youth Program Aide Interns support daily Club operations while completing academic fieldwork requirements. This role provides hands‑on experience in youth development, program facilitation, and positive behavior support within a safe, structured, and mission‑driven environment. Interns from the Field Study program work alongside experienced staff to create engaging, inclusive spaces where youth can learn, grow, and thrive.


This position is ideal for students studying education, child development, psychology, social work, recreation, or related fields who want practical experience working directly with youth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build positive, supportive relationships with youth ages 6–18.
  • Assist with planning and facilitating daily programs, activities, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Support homework help, academic skill‑building, and project‑based learning.
  • Model and reinforce positive behavior using Club‑approved strategies.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment in all program areas.
  • Supervise youth during transitions, free play, and structured activities.
  • Collaborate with Club staff to ensure consistent routines and expectations.
  • Follow all safety policies, emergency procedures, and youth‑protection guidelines.
  • Participate in required training and reflective field study check‑ins.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a field study, internship, or practicum course (or have instructor approval).
  • Ability to pass required onboarding steps, including reference checks and safety training.
  • Must be able to actively engage with youth indoors and outdoors.
  • Availability aligned with program hours (typically after school).
