Job Title: Youth Development Professional (YDP)


FLSA Classification: Nonexempt

Salary: $11.50/hour

Reports to: Site Director

Start Date: August 10th, 2026

Supervisory responsibilities: None


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.


  • Every staff member is expected to cultivate and maintain positive donor, member, and community relationships.
  • Prepare youth for success by promoting program participation, providing guidance and role-modeling to youth, providing a safe environment through communicating clear rules and expectations, and providing homework assistance and fun learning activities.
  • Identify and respond to member behavior issues; communicate with Emotional Support Specialist or management as needed.
  • Plan, develop and implement age-appropriate activities for youth.
  • Ensure classroom and all BGC site areas are safe, clean, and organized.
  • Understand and follow all emergency procedures and safety guidelines in all youth areas.
  • Supervise youth activities; own responsibility for youth safety and youth whereabouts at all times.
  • Communicate about participants’ experiences, and report concerns to Director of Programs.
  • Help guide junior staff, and volunteers to ensure they have a deeper understanding of leadership and counseling.
  • Participate in meetings as appropriate, and communicate effectively, in written form and verbally with internal staff and program participants.
  • Participate in professional development and networking conferences and events as appropriate and/or requested by Director of Programs and CEO.


Work environment Able to stand and/or walk up to 75% of time. Could require running and expended periods of standing and walking. Able to sit up to 25% of the time. Able to view a computer monitor daily. Some travel may be required in company or personal vehicle. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. This role is an on-site position and is not eligible for WFH or hybrid work.


· Employee required to possess a valid driver’s license and is occasionally required to transport members in a company vehicle.

· Proof of vehicle insurance is required.

· Mandatory to attain (within 6 months) and keep current CPR and first aid certifications.


Education and/or Experience


  • High School diploma or GED is required as is experience working with youth, ages 6-18.
  • One to three (1-3) years prior childcare experience is preferred.
  • General knowledge of and experience working with at-risk populations is preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary, as are excellent interpersonal skills with youth and management.
  • Time management skills are required.
  • Working knowledge of computers and systems is required, including and not limited to, Microsoft products such as Word (or similar product knowledge).
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism are required.
