Job Title: Transportation Specialist (Driver) FLSA Classification: Nonexempt
Salary Range: $13-$15/hour Reports to: Director
Supervisory responsibilities: None
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 1:30pm – 5:00pm
Summary/objective: The Transportation Specialist (Driver) is responsible for the safe and reliable transportation of Club members and staff using the organization’s passenger van and mini bus. This position ensures youth are transported safely to and from Club sites, schools, field trips, and special events. The driver plays a key role in maintaining a positive, safe, and supportive environment for all youth during transportation. This position does not require a CDL but does require a clean driving record and strong commitment to youth safety.

Every staff member is expected to cultivate and maintain positive donor, member, and community relationships.
Transportation & Safety
- Safely operate Club passenger van and mini bus in compliance with all traffic laws and organizational policies
- Transport youth and staff to and from Club sites, schools, field trips, and other approved destinations
- Ensure safe loading and unloading of all passengers
- Maintain order, safety, and appropriate behavior of youth while in transit
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols at all times
Vehicle Maintenance & Inspection
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Report mechanical issues, maintenance needs, or safety concerns immediately
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles, including interior and exterior
- Ensure vehicles are fueled and ready for scheduled transportation needs
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain accurate mileage, trip, and transportation logs
- Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding scheduling, delays, or incidents
- Follow assigned transportation schedules and route instructions
Youth Engagement & Support
- Maintain positive, professional, and respectful interactions with youth at all times
- Model appropriate behavior and reinforce Club expectations while transporting members
- Provide support to staff during boarding, unloading, and transitions as needed
Qualifications
- Valid Indiana driver’s license required
- Clean driving record required
- No CDL required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to pass background check and any required screenings
- CPR/First Aid certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Experience working with youth preferred
- Ability to safely operate a passenger van and mini bus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of reliability, responsibility, and professionalism
Work environment
- Able to sit and drive for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to assist youth with boarding and exiting vehicles, including occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Position requires operation of a vehicle in varying weather and road conditions.
- This role is on-site and includes local travel.
- Employee required to possess a valid driver’s license and maintain proof of vehicle insurance if required by organizational policy.
- Mandatory to attain (within 6 months) and keep current CPR and first aid certifications.
