Job Title: Director of Development                                     

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Salary Range: $48,000 - $58,000                                                           

Reports to: CEO

Supervisory responsibilities: Development Staff


Summary/objective The Director of Development (DD) leads the strategy, execution, and performance of all fundraising efforts that support the overall mission and growth of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie (BGCM). The DD is also responsible for overseeing marketing and communications to ensure alignment with organizational goals and to strengthen visibility, engagement, and donor support.

  • Every staff member is expected to cultivate and maintain positive donor relationships.

·       Create, lead, implement, and execute a comprehensive development strategy, including oversight of marketing and public relations efforts.

·       Identify, create, and maintain opportunities to increase public awareness of Club services, programs, and impact.

·       Lead all corporate and individual giving efforts, including expanding strategies such as major gifts, planned giving (estate planning, bequests), and recurring giving programs.

·       Partner with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and execute donor engagement strategies, including face-to-face visits, stewardship plans, and annual campaign initiatives. Maintain and grow relationships with donors, prospects, foundations, and other funding sources.

·       Serve as an ambassador and spokesperson for the organization, clearly communicating the mission and impact of BGCM to internal and external audiences.

·       Lead grant development efforts, including prospect research, proposal writing, grants calendar management, and reporting progress to the CEO.

·       Provide leadership and vision for fundraising events and campaigns that drive revenue and community engagement.

·       Participate in meetings as appropriate and communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats. May present to the Board of Directors, stakeholders, or community partners as needed.

·       Engage in professional development opportunities and networking events as approved by the CEO.


Work environment

·       Able to stand and/or walk up to 25% of time. Able to sit up to 50% of the time. Able to view a computer monitor for 6-8 hours per day. Some travel may be required in company or personal vehicle. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. The role may be eligible for some hybridized/WFH opportunity at the discretion of the CEO, and based upon the availability of technology.

·      Employee required to possess a valid driver’s license and is occasionally required to transport members in a company vehicle.

·      Proof of vehicle insurance is required.


Education and/or Experience

·       Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience (minimum of 4 years) required.

·       Experience in fundraising, development, or advancement is strongly preferred.

·       Grant writing or grant management experience is preferred.

·       Familiarity with and passion for serving youth, particularly at-risk populations, is preferred.

·       Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

·       Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.

·       Experience using data to inform strategy and decision-making.

·       Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar systems required.

·       Experience using donor management systems (e.g., Bloomerang or similar CRM platforms) to track donor activity, manage pipelines, and inform fundraising strategy is preferred.

·       High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality required.
