Youth Transportation Drive 

Job Description 

Department: Operations 

Employment Status: Regular Part-Time (Variable Schedule) 

Reports To: Clubhouse Director 

Pay Rate: $12.00 per hour (adjust as applicable) 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 


Typical Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–6:00 PM (Academic Year); Summer hours may vary

The Youth Development Professional plays a vital role in delivering high-quality programming and fostering positive relationships with members at Boys & Girls Clubs of East Alabama. 


PRIMARY FUNCTION 

The Youth Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting members to and from school, the clubhouse, and approved program activities. This role ensures all transportation is conducted in compliance with safety standards while maintaining a positive, structured, and respectful environment for youth. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Transportation & Safety 

  • Safely transport members to and from designated locations 
  • Ensure all passengers are properly seated and wearing seat belts at all times 
  • Follow all traffic laws, speed limits, and transportation safety protocols 
  • Monitor youth behavior during transport to ensure safety for all occupants 
  • Maintain current knowledge of emergency and accident procedures 

Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance 

  • Conduct required pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections 
  • Report maintenance concerns promptly to the Clubhouse Director 
  • Ensure vehicle remains clean, organized, and properly fueled 
  • Maintain transportation logs and required documentation 

Youth Supervision & Environment 

  • Promote a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment during transport 
  • Reinforce behavioral expectations consistent with organizational policies 
  • Support positive interactions and respectful conduct among members 

Administrative & Operational Support 

  • Assist with transportation scheduling and coordination as assigned 
  • Support arrival and dismissal procedures as needed 
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of organizational operations 

 

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED 

  • High School Diploma or GED required 
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record 
  • Minimum of two years of driving experience 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to remain calm and attentive in a fast-paced environment 
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Work occurs both indoors and outdoors depending on transportation needs 
  • Requires sitting for extended periods while operating a vehicle 
  • Must be able to assist youth entering and exiting the vehicle 
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and light lifting as needed 

BACKGROUND & COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS 

All candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check, child abuse review through the Alabama Department of Human Resources, pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and fingerprinting
