We seek an experienced educator who can pitch in on an as-needed basis. The substitute teacher position is as-needed without regularly scheduled hours. You will be included in training opportunities and valued as a member of our team.
Description
Overview:
We build joyful communities of children and teachers connected to each other and to their outdoor environments through discovery and play. We believe that children are intrinsically motivated to learn and that they do so by exploring the world around them.
Basics:
• Locations: Sudbury, Sherborn, Boston, Malden, and/or Milton
• Hourly rate: $15 - $20/hour
As a Substitute Teacher you will:
• Greet families warmly at drop-off and pick-up
• Create an inviting and safe outdoor classroom environment
• Collaborate with other teacher(s) to meet the cultural, behavioral, and physical needs of the children
• Be responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of all children. This includes helping children stay warm and dry in inclement weather, managing risk in an outdoor setting, and addressing conflict.
• Be an ambassador for BOPN when interacting with the public
• Other duties as assigned
You are:
• Passionate, creative, intentional and reflective in your work with children.
• Dedicated to early learning, child-directed and play-based learning, and the outdoors.
• Engaging and easily able to communicate with students, families, and peers.
• Excited to get dirty and laugh a lot while teaching outside in all types of weather. • Experienced teaching children 2-5 years old in traditional preschool or outdoor programs.
• Tolerant of uncertainty and change and understand that organizations continue to improve when the people who work there are adaptable, take chances, & learn from their mistakes
• Preferred: EEC teacher certification, experience in environmental education, or anti-bias education
