About Bold Reuse

Bold Reuse is pioneering the shift away from single-use waste by implementing reusable systems in large venues, campuses, and events. We work with top brands like Pepsi, Starbucks, and major sports teams to integrate reuse into their operations. Our mission is to make reuse the norm through seamless, tech-enabled solutions that deliver measurable environmental impact.

About the Role

As the fractional Product Owner for Bold Reuse’s internal operating platform, you will help shape how technology supports the company’s operations and future growth. You will own the product roadmap, working with business leaders and frontline stakeholders to identify the most valuable opportunities, establish priorities, and translate strategic goals into a clear and actionable direction for the platform.

You will serve as the primary connection between the business and the software development team. Through close collaboration with stakeholders, you will develop a strong understanding of operational processes, user needs, and business challenges, then translate those insights into well-defined requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. You will manage and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring the development team has the context and clarity needed to deliver meaningful improvements.

Throughout the development lifecycle, you will facilitate stakeholder alignment, support decision-making, and coordinate user acceptance testing to ensure new capabilities solve the intended business problems. You will balance immediate operational needs with the platform’s longer-term vision, helping Bold Reuse make thoughtful product investments and continuously improve the systems that power its business.

Experience Required (What You Bring)

  • 4+ years of experience in product ownership, product management, business analysis, or a comparable role supporting software development
  • Experience developing and maintaining product roadmaps that connect business priorities to technology investments
  • Strong requirements-management skills, including translating business needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and clearly defined outcomes
  • Experience managing and prioritizing a product backlog based on business value, user impact, risk, effort, and technical dependencies
  • Demonstrated ability to work with business leaders, frontline users, and technical teams to build alignment and make informed product decisions
  • Experience leading stakeholder interviews, discovery sessions, process-mapping activities, and requirements workshops
  • Experience planning and coordinating user acceptance testing, gathering feedback, and determining whether solutions meet business needs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex operational and technical topics clearly
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of product outcomes in a small, fast-moving organization
  • A practical, user-centered approach to product development, with a focus on delivering measurable operational value rather than simply completing features

Time Commitment

  • This is a part-time, 12-month contract position averaging approximately 15 hours per week.
  • The workload will vary based on the product-development cycle: some weeks may require approximately 20–25 hours during periods of discovery, planning, testing, or release activity, while lighter weeks may require closer to 10 hours.
  • The Product Owner should have sufficient flexibility to adjust their availability as priorities change. Workload and scheduling will be coordinated in advance whenever possible and managed within the overall budget for the engagement.
  • While the initial engagement period is 1-year, a 3-5 month extension is possible depending on business needs and mutual agreement.

Compensation

  • The hourly contract rate for this role is $90–$120, depending on relevant experience and qualifications. We expect most candidates to fall between $90 and $110 per hour.
  • Rates above $110 are generally reserved for candidates with 7+ years of relevant product ownership or product management experience and a demonstrated ability to independently lead product strategy, roadmap development, stakeholder alignment, and delivery for a business-critical software platform.
