As an Optical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of optical components and systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of optical solutions into products. Your work will involve both theoretical modeling and hands-on prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.

Description

Key Responsibilities:


  • Design, simulate, and analyze optical systems and components, such as lenses, mirrors, prisms, lasers, and fiber optics.
  • Perform optical modeling and simulations using software like Zemax, Code V, or similar tools.
  • Develop and implement testing protocols for optical components and systems, ensuring compliance with performance specifications.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate optical systems into larger product assemblies.
  • Conduct hands-on laboratory work, including alignment, calibration, and performance testing of optical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize optical designs for performance improvements and cost reductions.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in optical technologies and methodologies.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or PhD is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in optical design, analysis, and testing.
  • Proficiency in optical design software (e.g., Zemax, Code V, LightTools).
  • Solid understanding of optics principles (geometrical optics, wave optics, polarization, etc.).
  • Experience with laser systems, fiber optics, imaging systems, or photonics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Hands-on experience with optical prototyping and fabrication.
  • Familiarity with optomechanical and electro-optical systems.
  • Experience with alignment and calibration of complex optical setups.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards in optics (ISO, FDA, etc.).
