Direct Care Staff
Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Care Staff to join our team. In this role, you will provide direct supervision, care, and support to youth in a residential treatment setting. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment while promoting positive behaviors, life skills, and emotional growth. The ideal candidate is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of youth and can effectively manage challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide continuous supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all youth.
- Build positive, supportive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including hygiene, meals, chores, and personal care as needed.
- Administer medications according to agency policies and training requirements.
- Transport residents to appointments, school, recreational activities, and community outings using agency vehicles.
- Implement treatment plans, behavior management strategies, and therapeutic interventions as directed.
- Facilitate life skills training, recreational activities, and structured group interactions.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, medication records, and daily logs.
- Monitor and document residents’ behaviors, progress, and any concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe living environment.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and crisis situations while following agency policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, therapists, case managers, medical providers, and other team members.
- Attend required staff meetings and complete all mandatory training.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with youth, behavioral health, foster care, or residential treatment is preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass criminal background checks, drug screening, and any state-required clearances.
- CPR, First Aid, and crisis intervention certification preferred (training may be provided).
- Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during crisis situations.
- Must be reliable, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and actively supervise residents throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely transport clients and participate in recreational activities.
- Ability to respond quickly during emergencies or behavioral crises.
Schedule
- Full-time and part-time positions available.
- Evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.
- Overtime opportunities may be available.
