Bixby School Lifeguard / Summer Swim Teacher Boulder, CO · Full time

Position Summary: A Core Belief of Bixby School is that “committed, well-qualified teachers are fundamental to the success of our school.” As the camp swim teacher, you will provide instruction for students to be safe in and around water, and provide them an opportunity to develop a life-long love of swimming.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Swim Teacher

  • Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate, play-based program for preschool-5th grade campers
  • Swim with our youngest campers, with on-deck support from the preschool teachers
  • Ensure the safety of swim participants and the pool environment
  • Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed
  • Keep accurate incident logs
  • Test and log daily pool chemistry 
  • Pool maintenance in coordination with the Facility Director
  • Other duties as assigned to support the camp program
  • Support the mission and core beliefs of Bixby School

  • Water Safety Instructor Certification  (WSI), Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
  • Positive experience working with student populations with diverse needs and gifts
  • Experience working effectively with preschool and elementary-aged children
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Universal Precautions, and Medication Administration certification 
  • At least 5 years of experience working with children in a formal setting, such as camp, after care or school

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to continuously walk, stand, climb stairs, and sit
  • Frequent bending or stooping, and reaching above shoulder level
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds


$23 - $26 per hour
