Position Summary
Biomed East is a small, owner‑operated biomedical service provider delivering managed asset solutions to regional healthcare facilities. We specialize in hospital bed and stretcher repair, preventive maintenance, fleet compliance inspections, and corrective restoration.
We are hiring dependable, detail‑driven Medical Asset Technicians with strong electromechanical skills and a professional presence in clinical environments. This role suits industrial, mechanical, or electronics technicians seeking a stable position with a clear technical scope. You will work independently across multiple hospital campuses with support from a structured operations team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform operational checks, safety testing, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electric patient beds and stretchers.
- Fleet Compliance Inspections: Execute annual and semi‑annual PM cycles, electrical safety testing, grounding verification, and regulatory tasks to meet AAMI, CMS, and Joint Commission standards.
- Corrective Triage: Diagnose and repair structural, mechanical, electrical, and circuit‑board issues for hallway and unit backlogs.
- Documentation: Log work orders, PM completions, parts requests, and lifecycle details into the asset management software in an audit‑ready state.
- Parts Logistics: Identify required replacement parts and submit accurate line‑item requests through facility parts portals.
- Infection Control: Follow hospital infection control, sanitization protocols, vendor credentialing, and facility‑specific onboarding requirements.
- Field Service Support: Travel reliably between assigned hospital sites across the region to provide on‑site service.
- Professional Conduct: Maintain patient privacy, noise discipline, and respectful interaction with clinical staff and hospital engineering leadership.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in electronics maintenance or in a related electromechanical or industrial maintenance role.
- Education: Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent military technical training preferred; equivalent hands‑on experience accepted.
- Equipment Knowledge: Hands‑on experience with Hillrom and/or Stryker bed and stretcher systems strongly preferred; Hillrom Centrella experience is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Troubleshooting of electrical wiring, actuators, mechanical systems, and circuit boards; ability to perform electrical safety and grounding verification. Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with standard mechanical hand tools (socket/ratchet wrenches, torque tools) and digital multimeters.
- Professional Skills: Dependability, clear communication, strong time management, and a team‑first mindset. Ability to strictly follow written manufacturer service manuals and execute direct supervisor instructions without deviation.
- Logistics: Valid, unrestricted State Driver's License (Learner's Permits are not accepted); reliable transportation, clean driving record, and ability to pass hospital background checks, drug screening, and vendor credentialing.
- Practical Skills Assessment: Ability to pass a hands-on tool and troubleshooting evaluation during the initial probationary employment period.
- Hospital Decorum: Respect for patient privacy and professional behavior in clinical settings.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Physical Requirements: Regular reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and working in tight spaces.
- Activity Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, sitting, tool handling, and clear communication.
- Lifting Requirements: Push/pull beds and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs; regularly lift 50 lbs; frequently lift 10–25 lbs.
- Work Environment: Active hospital settings with minimal to moderate noise levels.
