Experienced and innovative Senior Scientist to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced bioanalytical methods

Description

Our Mission:

In a world where drug development is invariably a slow and inefficient process, we enable the biopharma industry to advance drugs faster and easier than has ever been possible with our deceptively simple, tech-driven platform

that delivers critical capabilities quickly and with consistently high quality.

Company Summary:

Now out of stealth, Dash Bio takes a technology-first approach to developing critical services across the drug development lifecycle. The company is building new capabilities that leverage AI, robotics, and fully-integrated software to fundamentally reinvent the way drugs are brought to market. Their first capability is a highly-automated clinical bioanalysis lab that promises to deliver GLP-compliant services with unprecedented speed.

Dash is led by an ambitious team of industry pros aligned on a shared vision and ethos. Founders include Dave Johnson (CEO), former Chief Data & AI Officer at Moderna; Ander Tallett (COO), CEO and founder of DigitalRadius and an experienced executive with stints at Moderna and Science Exchange; and Ely Porter, CTO and co-founder of Rootpath, a pioneer in synthetic immunology and gene synthesis.

Dash is targeting bioanalysis as an entry point for its intense potential for disruption to the current market with a tech-first approach.

We are a place where employees are stretched to do the best work of their career. We are looking for engineers, scientists, and biotechnicians who want to make an impact on the world and leverage their skills in an innovative way.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will leverage their deep background in molecular diagnostics, regulated assay development experience, and automated workflows to lead the development and implementation of advanced bioanalytical methods. This role offers the opportunity to integrate AI, robotics, and cutting-edge assay techniques into our clinical bioanalysis platform. The successful candidate will drive projects from concept to completion, mentor junior staff, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Method Development:
  • Design, develop, and optimize bioanalytical assays (e.g., ELISA, qPCR, and NGS) and implement them with the robotics team on automated equipment.
  • Own design of experiment and validation of bioanalytical assays for clients
  • Employ advanced techniques to improve assay sensitivity, specificity, throughput, and cost.
  • Develop verification and validation strategies for sample preparation methods.

Technology Integration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI and automation into laboratory workflows, drawing on previous experience transferring manual laboratory protocols to automated systems.
  • Evaluate and implement new equipment and software to enhance capabilities, leveraging familiarity with automated liquid handlers and various other advanced instrumentation.

Project Leadership:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, quality compliance, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Mentor and train junior scientists and technicians, guiding them through assay setup and best practices by strictly adhering to established SOPs.

Data Analysis and Interpretation:

  • Use advanced statistical tools for data analysis, interpretation, and decision-making.
  • Present findings to internal teams and clients, translating complex data into actionable insights that inform project direction and regulatory submissions.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all laboratory activities comply with relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., GLP, QSR) and maintain accurate design control documentation.
  • Support FDA regulatory audits, prepare high-quality reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Own accessioning of critical reagents and sponsor samples while ensuring quality standards are met throughout the lab space

Client Collaboration:

  • Interface directly with clients to define project requirements, experimental design, and timelines.
  • Provide regular updates through clear, data-driven reports and presentations, meeting or exceeding client expectations.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of industry experience; or M.S. with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in bioanalytical method development and validation, including ELISA, qPCR, and dPCR.
  • Demonstratable experience transferring manual assay workflows to automated platforms and integrating advanced instrumentation (e.g., Hamilton Star, plate readers, real-time PCR instruments).
  • Experience in quality system regulations (QSR) and familiarity with FDA regulatory environment and requirements.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a regulated environment.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and statistical tools for assay development and validation studies.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

Desirable Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with immunoassays, qPCR/ddPCR, or NGS in GLP or other regulated setting.
  • Knowledge of advanced molecular techniques (e.g., digital PCR, NGS) and their application in clinical bioanalytical analysis
  • Familiarity with design control documentation, technology transfer training, and SOP writing

What We Offer:

  • Opportunity to work at the forefront of bioanalytical innovation with a technology-first approach.
  • A collaborative and inclusive company culture that encourages professional growth and learning.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Clear pathways for career advancement and professional development in a rapidly evolving field.
