Big Watt Digital is looking for a Data Center Development Engineering Leader to join it's growing team based in Austin, TX. The SVP of Engineering & Technology will lead the end-to-end technology, engineering and design strategy to deliver capital-efficient, modularized, and next-generation datacenter infrastructure tailored specifically to hyperscale cloud and AI compute requirements. This position reports to the President of Datacenter Development & Construction and is a key member of the Data Center team.

Description
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
- Manage full lifecycle engineering from conceptualization, feasibility, and detailed engineering through to operational handover.
- Implement lean engineering methodologies and modular design frameworks to accelerate deployment schedules.
- Translating hardware, compute, and networking requirements into scalable datacenter engineering solutions.
- Oversee the design process of a large data center and effectively integrate the design with supply chain, and construction.
- A deep understanding of data center technical requirements including hardware / network requirements. Ability to distill customer’s technical requirements (hardware and DC requirements) into an engineering and design solution for the customer
- Oversee design processes for large-scale data center developments, driving capital efficiencies and optimization.
- Integrate design workflows closely with procurement, supply chain, and construction teams to ensure smooth delivery.
- Negotiate and manage external Architecture & Engineering (A&E) retainer agreements to maintain cost competitiveness.
- Serve as an industry-recognized leader in digital infrastructure, acting as the primary technical liaison for hyperscale cloud and AI clients.
- Distill complex, custom client requirements into tailored, buildable datacenter solutions.
- Partner with commercial teams to secure major hyperscale partnerships and achieve target cost metrics (e.g., target $/MW).
THE PERSON WHO WILL THRIVE HERE
- 20+ years’ experience in engineering, design, and technology
- 5+ years’ experience in data center engineering and design
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background
- Target candidate: Head of engineering & design for major DC developer or hyperscale
