Big Watt Digital LLC SVP, Business Operations Austin, TX · Remote · Full time Company website

As Big Watt Digital advances toward a public listing, our President and Chief Operating Officer, Ben Weaver, needs broad-based support managing his direct-report organization. That organization spans five functions: People, Communications & Sustainability, Finance & Accounting, Investor Relations, and IT. Three of these are open or newly filled and need sustained, day-to-day attention to hire well and get moving. The SVP, Business Operations will take operating ownership of the COO’s direct-report organization, including cadence, accountability, and follow-through, reporting directly to the President and COO.

Description

COO Capital Markets Time Protection

  • Prioritization & Gatekeeping: Manage the COO’s time so the blocks his banker and financing work require are protected, absorbing the operational and administrative demands that would otherwise compete for them.
  • Proxy & Representation: Attend pillar-level and cross-functional meetings on the COO’s behalf when he is engaged in financing work, ensuring his intent and priorities carry through whether or not he is in the room.
  • Strategic Sounding Board: Act as a trusted, confidential advisor to the COO on organizational and operational questions across his pillars.

Direct Report Management & Operating Cadence

  • Day-to-Day Management: Own the operating rhythm of the COO’s direct-report organization, including regular 1:1s and team check-ins across People, Communications & Sustainability, Finance & Accounting, Investor Relations, and IT, so every function has a consistent point of contact and accountability.
  • Execution Tracking: Run the role-scorecard discipline already established for this organization (mission, core accountabilities, KPIs, quarterly OKRs, decision rights). Track each pillar’s OKRs, flag at-risk items early, and ensure follow-through on commitments.
  • Open-Role Coverage: With three of five pillars currently open or newly filled (Communications & Sustainability, Investor Relations, and IT), own interim coverage planning and partner with People to get them filled.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Communication

  • Cross-Functional Connectivity: Keep the COO’s direct reports synchronized with each other and with the wider Executive Committee, breaking down silos between pillars.
  • Information Flow: Synthesize updates, metrics, and risks from across the COO organization into concise briefings.

Capital Markets & IPO Readiness Support

  • Capital Markets Partnership: Partner directly with the COO on capital markets activities, coordinating banker and advisor logistics, materials, and follow-ups so financing work stays on track.
  • Materials Preparation: Help prepare board- and investor-facing materials in coordination with the Chief of Staff so the two efforts are complementary rather than overlapping.

The Person Who Will Thrive Here

  • 12+ years of experience, including senior leadership in business operations, strategy, or as a chief of staff to a C-level executive.
  • Proven experience managing or coordinating multiple corporate functions, such as Finance, People, Investor Relations, Communications, and IT.
  • Pre-IPO, public company, or capital markets experience, ideally including IPO readiness or major financing transactions.
  • Track record running an operating cadence with OKRs, KPIs, and clear decision rights.
  • Executive presence and sound judgment, with the ability to represent the COO credibly and handle confidential matters with discretion.
  • Experience in digital infrastructure, energy, real assets, or a high-growth company is highly preferred.
