Description

Big AL Mowing is a roadside maintenance company. We have contracts with the Tennessee

Department of Transportation and other governmental and commercial clients to maintain the

roadways in Middle TN. We utilize Kubota M5-111 Open Station and Closed Cab Tractors and Land Pride 10ft and 15ft cutters (single wing and batwing).

 

Job Summary:

 

Tractor Operators are tasked with keeping Tennessee roadways maintained and helping to

keep them beautiful. This is done by mowing the right-of-way roadsides outlined in the contracts

we are awarded. Each operator will be assigned an area to mow each day.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·      Works during mowing cycles (20 working days), unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.

·      Normal working days are Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM

·      Operate heavy equipment/machinery, including tractors and bushhogs, backhoes, skid steers, and mini excavators as needed

·      Mow grass in accordance with specifications given for sections of roadways, as directed by the supervisor

·      Check/maintain fluids, lubricants, wear parts, tires, glass, and general condition of assigned machinery and report issues immediately

·      Safely and productively operate equipment on public roadways and job sites while maintaining proper awareness of surroundings and adapting to changing environment including traffic, soil conditions, and weather

·      Understand the issues involving ground disturbance and erosion control, i.e. do not create ruts

·      Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and ideas

·      Perform other duties as necessary, including weed eating, zero-turning, driving, trailering, and litter pick up to complete the job

·      Responsible for bringing lunch every day. Picking up lunch is not an option

·      Damages due to gross negligence of an operator will be paid for by that operator.

 

Requirements:

 

·      Safe and Responsible

·      Great Attitude and willing to work in a team setting

·      Self-Aware

·      Reliable, including reliable transportation

·      Must be able to Lift upwards of 40lbs

·      Previous experience operating tractors or heavy equipment, preferred roadway experience

·      Able to work in a team setting but also able to work alone

·      Able to safely operate mechanical equipment

·      Follow policies and procedures as outlined in the company handbook

·      Legally in the United States with appropriate documentation to complete Form I9

·      This is seasonal work, with the potential to become year-round

·      May require some travel

·      Pre-employment drug screen

·      Preferred for operators to have driver’s license that is acceptable to our insurance company

Salary

$21.05 - $21.05 per hour
