Job Description:

Members of the Big AL Mowing Weedeater Crews will be tasked with keeping Tennessee roadways maintained and helping to keep them beautiful. This is done by cutting the remaining grass left tall in the right of way after the tractors have finished cutting, as well as removing trash, debris and other unwanted materials from the sides of our states’ roadways as necessary. Teams will be sent out in waves to divide and conquer their territory for the given day. Members of the Weedeater Crews must be able to operate light powered equipment, including tools, weed eaters, and mechanical blowers. Additionally, they will be able to participate in traffic control crews, placing signs on roadways as directed. They will also be authorized to drive company vehicles as directed for a job. This could include operating a vehicle to place traffic control signs or to remove bags of litter, which may include towing a trailer. This person is not authorized to operate vehicles requiring a CDL.

 

This position is seasonal with potential hours in the off-season. Employees will be scheduled as needed based on the company scheduling policy. Normal working days are Monday-Friday with weekend work being scheduled as needed. Work will only be performed during daylight. This position will work outdoors, and crews will work in various weather conditions including rain, heat, and cold.

 

Requirements: 

 

·      Safe and Responsible Crew Driver

·      Able to use a smartphone and GPS to follow directions to specific jobsites

·      Driving crews, weed eat on the roadside (guardrails, telephone poles, mailboxes, hillsides in the mow line), and/or pick litter

·      Great Attitude 

·      Self-Aware 

·      Reliable, including reliable transportation to the job site

·      Must be able to be on your feet for hours at a time and able to walk 5+ miles per day 

·      Must be able to Lift 40lbs 

·      Hand Strength to be able to operate power tools, grabbing devices, and bags 

·      Able to work in a team setting but also able to work alone 

·      Prior experience operating weed eaters for hire is preferred 

·      Able to safely operate mechanical equipment 

·      Active Driver’s License with driving record that is acceptable to our insurance company (1 point or less unless specific approval)

·      Able to safely operate a motor vehicle on highways and roadways

·      Follows Policies and Procedures based as outlined in the company handbook

·      Legally in the United States with appropriate documentation to complete Form I-9 

·      Pre-employment drug screen

·      CDL Preferred but not required

·      Ability to haul standard trailers preferred but not required

Salary

$21.05 - $21.05 per hour
