Job Summary

As a Bartender/Wait Staff at New York Butcher Shoppe & Wine Bar, you will provide exceptional customer service in our upscale specialty food and wine establishment. This dual role requires seamlessly transitioning between bartending and serving responsibilities, creating memorable dining experiences for our clientele who appreciate fine meats, gourmet foods, and quality wines.

Key Responsibilities

Bartending Duties

• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and standards
• Develop extensive knowledge of our wine selection to make appropriate recommendations
• Maintain clean and organized bar area
• Process payments and operate POS system
• Monitor inventory and assist with ordering supplies
• Ensure compliance with alcohol service regulations and policies

Wait Staff Duties

• Greet and seat customers promptly and courteously
• Take accurate food and beverage orders
• Serve food and drinks with proper timing and presentation
• Answer questions about menu items, daily specials, and wine pairings
• Process payments and close checks in a timely manner
• Maintain cleanliness of dining areas
• Assist with side work as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous experience in bartending and/or serving, preferably in an upscale environment
• Knowledge of wines, spirits, and cocktails, or willingness to learn
• Food Handler's certification and alcohol service certification (or ability to obtain)
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays
• Basic math skills for processing transactions
• 21+ years of age to serve alcohol (as required by law)
