Trash Picker / Waste Collection Attendant

Position Summary
The Trash Picker / Waste Collection Attendant is responsible for collecting, picking up, transporting, and properly disposing of trash and waste throughout the assigned facility and surrounding areas. The employee is expected to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment while following all company and site safety procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect trash, garbage, and waste from designated areas.
- Pick up litter and debris from floors, walkways, parking areas, and other assigned areas.
- Empty trash cans and replace trash liners as needed.
- Transport collected trash to the designated dumpster or disposal area.
- Separate recyclable materials when required.
- Check assigned areas regularly and remove trash promptly.
- Clean up spills, loose debris, and other waste when safe to do so.
- Keep dumpsters and surrounding areas clean and free of excessive debris.
- Report damaged trash containers, hazardous materials, spills, or unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
- Follow all facility rules and Bex Certified Cleaning Service policies.
- Use cleaning tools, carts, bags, and other equipment properly.
- Maintain a professional and respectful attitude while working at the client’s facility.
- Complete assigned work within the scheduled shift.
- Perform other reasonable cleaning and waste-collection duties assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, stoop, squat, reach, and lift repeatedly.
- Push and pull trash carts or equipment.
- Lift and carry trash bags and other materials.
- Work indoors and outdoors as required.
- Work in hot, cold, wet, or otherwise uncomfortable conditions.
- Safely navigate stairs and uneven surfaces when necessary.
Safety Requirements
Employees must:
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Wear appropriate work shoes/steel-toe footwear when required by the job site.
- Use gloves and other protective equipment when handling waste.
- Never handle unknown chemicals, needles, bodily fluids, or other hazardous materials unless specifically trained and authorized to do so.
- Immediately report hazardous materials or unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
- Follow all OSHA, client-site, and company safety requirements.
Attendance and Work Expectations
- Arrive on time and ready to work at the scheduled start time.
- Remain at the assigned work location during scheduled working hours unless authorized to leave.
- Properly clock in and out according to company procedures.
- Complete assigned duties thoroughly and efficiently.
- Maintain reliable attendance.
- Follow supervisor instructions and site-specific procedures.
- Notify management as soon as possible regarding absences or late arrivals.
Qualifications
- Previous cleaning, janitorial, waste collection, warehouse, or labor experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Able to safely perform the physical duties of the position.
- Must be willing to follow all safety procedures and client requirements.
