Bethany Lutheran Church of Austin Texas seeks a Mission Strategist to work in Austin, Texas to assist our Pastor with Disciple-Making & Faith Formation, including foster a biblical culture of discipleship throughout the congregation; equip members for spiritual formation, evangelism, and missional living; develop and implement discipleship pathways, evangelism training, and learning cohorts; provide biblical teaching and training consistent with Lutheran doctrine; and encourage and resource contextual disciple-making expressions that extend ministry into everyday life.
Engage in Evangelism & Gospel Outreach, including mobilize members to engage in relational and community-based evangelism; support outreach initiatives that embody practices such as prayer, listening, hospitality, service, and testimony. Encourage emerging missional expressions that engage post-Christian communities; and collaborate with pastoral and LCMS leadership to support mission initiatives and emerging mission starts.
Facilitate Leadership Development & Ministry Training, including identify, mentor, and equip lay leaders for evangelism and mission; facilitate ministry training cohorts and peer-learning environments; provide coaching and ministry experiences that help leaders grow in confidence and calling; and support the development of leaders capable of initiating and sustaining missional initiatives.
Responsible for Missional Partnerships & Collaboration, including strengthen partnerships with local, regional, and international mission organizations; collaborate with denominational and district leadership structures to support mission strategy, ministry training, and cross congregational initiatives; contribute to the development and coordination of training resources and mission programs that serve multiple congregations within a denominational or regional context; and represent the church in faith-based collaborations and community networks.
Develop and Implement Ministry Planning & Integration, including collaborate with pastoral and ministry staff to integrate mission and discipleship priorities across the life of the church; participate in worship, teaching, and ministry environments as assigned; and provide updates and reflections on mission progress to pastoral and lay leadership teams.
Support Mission Sustainability & Resource Development, including participate in donor engagement, grant collaboration, and resource development efforts related to outreach and mission initiatives; and collaborate with church leadership and mission partners to identify and strengthen funding opportunities that advance the church's mission.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Leadership, Management, or related field.
Minimum Experience Required:
Three (3) years of experience in Christian mission and ministry within post-Christian and cross-cultural contexts, including 3 years of experience in each of the following: equipping and mobilizing lay leaders for evangelism and discipleship; developing contextual mission strategies; engaging communities where Christian faith is not culturally assumed; and engaging in Christian evangelism or ministry in resource-limited or global mission.
Special Requirements:
