The Director of Children's Ministry is to be a highly relational leader that connects families and their children (birth through 5th grade) to Jesus and integrates, supports and contributes to the mission, vision and value of Bethany.

Description

Primary Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with the Director of Family Life and Director of Youth Ministry to provide spiritual support and foster a sense of community among families.


  • Create and manage a calendar of events, activities, and opportunities for children and their families in collaboration with the Director of Family Life and Director of Youth Ministry.


  • Recruit, develop, and support leaders to serve in various areas of Children's Ministry.


  • Improve and enhance the Sunday morning experiences for children and their families, such as Praise & Play and Bethany Kids.


  • Coordinate and schedule chapel times and themes for Bethany Preschool and Let It Shine in collaboration with the respective directors.


  • Encourage and engage Bethany Preschool and Let It Shine children and families to participate in the Bethany worship community.


  • Lead and organize Bethany's annual Vacation Bible School and Easter Celebration experiences.


  • Assist with the planning and execution of the annual Children's Christmas program.


  • Collaborate with worship staff to involve children and their families in worship services.


  • Work with the Senior Pastor to facilitate First Communion with children and their families.


  • Maintain and enhance the children's spaces in the lobby, including activity bags and sensory cry room areas.


  • Provide care and support to children and their families during times of need.


  • Participate in annual budget discussions with the Director of Family Life to support ministry goals.


  • Plan and implement fundraising initiatives to support Children's Ministry expenses.


  • Attend staff and Family Ministry team meetings for coaching, collaboration, strategy development, and goal formation/accountability.


Education, Experience & Skillset


  • Bachelor's degree required.


  • Experience working/volunteering with children in a church environment required. Experience within a LCMS church preferred.


  • Ability to inspire confidence, build trust, and motivate others to take action.


  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


  • Strong time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, and adherence to policies and procedures.


  • Excellent multitasking and prioritization abilities, and ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.


  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with staff and members.


  • Willingness to pursue further education as needed.


Your Team


  • Reports to the Director of Family Life.


  • Oversees Nursery (Praise & Play) and Bethany Kids staff and volunteers.

Salary for this position is based on experience and qualifications.

Salary

$50,000 - $60,000 per year
