New York City is the most contested cannabis market on the East Coast — and we are here to take shelf space. Senior reps at Starbase don’t manage accounts. They own blocks.

What You'll Do

This is an elite hunter role built for a rep who has already proven themselves in the field and is ready to compete at the highest level in one of the most demanding retail cannabis environments in the country. You will own a territory of approximately 100 licensed dispensary accounts across New York City — navigating the five boroughs, managing a full and active book of business, and relentlessly hunting every door that isn’t carrying Starbase. NYC buyers are sophisticated, the market is crowded, and the pace is unforgiving. We need a closer who knows cannabis inside and out, thrives under pressure, and shows up every single day ready to win. If that’s you, let’s talk.

Core Responsibilities:

• Own, develop, and aggressively expand an assigned territory of ~100 licensed retail dispensary accounts across New York City’s five boroughs
• Hunt without hesitation — cold call, walk in, and leverage your existing NYC network to convert every non-carrying account into a Starbase account
• Present and sell the full Starbase product portfolio with genuine cannabis fluency — terpene profiles, effects, format differentiation, and sharp competitive positioning within the NYC market
• Build authentic, durable relationships with buyers, GMs, and ownership at the account level; be the brand rep they call before anyone else
• Consistently achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets — in this market, good enough isn’t
• Manage the complete sales cycle: initial outreach, product presentation, negotiation, order placement, and post-sale follow-through with precision
• Execute shelf placement, merchandising standards, and display excellence at every account visit across the city
• Track and report on competitive intelligence — new entrants, pricing shifts, brand movement, and floor-level retail trends borough by borough
• Mentor and provide field guidance to junior Sales Representatives operating in adjacent or overlapping NYC territories
• Lead brand activations, product launches, trade events, and budtender education sessions as a senior face of Starbase in the New York market
• Maintain meticulous, current records of all account activity, pipeline status, and sales data in HubSpot
• Partner cross-functionally with operations and logistics to ensure on-time, accurate fulfillment and proactive issue resolution
• Note: This role does not involve transporting cannabis product. All product distribution is handled through licensed distribution channels.

What We're Looking For

• Must be 21 or older and legally eligible to work in the cannabis industry in New York
• 4+ years of proven B2B or field sales experience — cannabis industry experience is strongly required at the senior level; NYC market experience is a significant advantage
• Demonstrated, sustained track record of exceeding quota — not occasionally, but consistently
• Deep cannabis product knowledge: strains, terpenes, cannabinoids, consumption formats, and the specific dynamics of the New York City retail cannabis market
• Existing relationships with buyers, GMs, or ownership at licensed NYC dispensaries — you should be able to pick up the phone and get a meeting
• A true hunter: you prospect without being asked, follow up without being reminded, and close without hesitation — even in a city that doesn’t slow down for anyone
• Polished, high-energy communication and presentation skills — you can command a room on the Lower East Side the same way you can in Midtown or the Bronx
• Proven ability to independently manage a dense, high-volume urban territory with a large number of active accounts
• Comfortable leading and mentoring junior team members in field settings across the city
• Reliable transportation for a NYC territory (transit-savvy navigation of the five boroughs preferred; vehicle access a plus)
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends — this is New York, and the market doesn’t stop
• Proficiency with HubSpot or comparable CRM, sales reporting, and pipeline management tools

• Deep existing relationships in the New York City dispensary ecosystem — Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island
• Experience as a cannabis brand rep, wholesale buyer, or dispensary operator specifically in the NYC market
• Active presence in the NYC cannabis community — events, trade organizations, industry networks
• Comfort capturing field content and running in-store activations in a fast-moving urban environment
• Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply — language skills are a genuine advantage in this market
• Working knowledge of Canva, Adobe, or similar tools for account-level marketing support
