BENZAIT’s healthcare client is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join its Digital Technology Services team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about leveraging AI/ML, large language models, and data science to solve complex problems in healthcare. The Senior Data Scientist will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and deploy predictive models and AI-driven solutions that enhance clinical workflows and decision-making. The role combines hands-on technical work—such as prompt engineering, model development, and pipeline coding—with leadership responsibilities including stakeholder communication, project management, and mentoring junior team members. Responsibilities:

A day in the life of the Data Scientist consultant:

·      Collaborate with the client stakeholders to understand business objectives and identify opportunities for AI/ML solutions.

·      Conduct exploratory data analysis to evaluate data relevance and feasibility for AI/ML applications.

·      Optimize Large Language Model (LLM) outputs using prompt engineering and build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.

·      Design, train, and evaluate AI/ML models tailored to specific use cases and assess their performance.

·      Develop scalable, interpretable, and repeatable models that integrate seamlessly into data products.

·      Engineer features by creatively combining multiple data sources to enhance model performance.

·       Write and maintain production-quality pipeline code for data processing, model execution, and result storage.

·      Analyze AI/ML systems for fairness, bias, interpretability, and overall impact.

·      Write efficient Python code that integrates with broader engineering and analytics systems.

·      Communicate AI/ML methodologies and outcomes to senior leadership to support strategic decisions.

·      Lead complex projects involving cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.

·      Mentor and support junior team members on best practices in machine learning and AI.


Qualifications Required:

·      4+ years of experience in a data science role, or 5+ years in data engineering, data analysis, or data architecture.

·       Strong proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience developing robust data and ML solutions.

·       Advanced SQL skills for querying, manipulating, and analyzing large datasets.

·      Deep understanding of statistical modeling techniques and experience with a variety of machine learning algorithms.

·       Solid knowledge of clinical data structures and workflows; highly skilled in accessing and utilizing clinical datasets.

·      Proven ability to deploy custom AI/ML models to cloud environments and write production-level code.

·      Hands-on experience with optimizing large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and building RAG pipelines.

·       Capable of designing and implementing custom model monitoring frameworks.


Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Experience with the Google Cloud Platform, git, GitHub, Docker.
  • Experience building dashboards in Looker Studio.
  • In-depth knowledge of Python statistical analysis tools and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the Epic Clarity data model.


Salary:

W2 Hourly Rate: $65.00-$80.00 (US) per hour. The salary range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
