BENZAIT Principal Consultant (FTE) Remote · Full time Company website

We are looking for one person: someone who can walk into a room full of executives, draw out the real problem until there's no ambiguity left, walk out, write the technical spec, and start building the solution themselves. Then lead a team to finish it, keep the client growing, and never once say "that's not my job to build." It is, deliberately, a replica of what the founder does today — client whisperer, architect, and builder in one body. If that combination describes you, keep reading. If you believe leaders shouldn't write code, this isn't your role.

Description

Who we are

BENZAIT is a healthcare-exclusive AI and data consulting firm. We deploy small, senior, multidisciplinary strike teams that move fast — from a same-day analysis to a full-stack application sitting on a production-grade pipeline and infrastructure. We sell senior talent,

speed, and a "leave-behind" software model: clients keep working assets, not slideware.

What you'll own

You are the Principal on your accounts. That means four things at once, none of them optional:

1. The client relationship. You sit across from executive and senior stakeholders, run the discovery, and translate fuzzy business pain into a sharp, agreed-upon problem statement and scope. You are the face of BENZAIT on the account, and the reason the client trusts us with more over time.

2. The technical solution — hands-on. You write the spec. And when a client needs something now, you build it yourself. You're expected to be in the architecture, in the code, in the pipeline — not directing from a distance. Your team should see you ship.

3. The strike team. You assemble and lead a multidisciplinary team scoped to each engagement — typically some combination of data/analytics engineer, full-stack developer, ML/AI engineer, analyst, and program manager, with you as the Principal and technical lead. You set the bar, unblock the work, and own the quality of what ships.

4. Account growth. You carry a revenue and expansion expectation and are compensated for it. But our philosophy is operator-first: we believe that if a strong operator delivers exceptional

work, accounts grow on their own. We're hiring you to be that operator. The sales follow the delivery — not the other way around.

What makes this role different

Most senior consulting roles ask you to choose: client-facing strategist or hands-on builder, people leader or individual contributor. We are explicitly asking you to refuse that choice. The

value of this role — and the reason it's compensated like it is — is the rare person who does all of it credibly. You will spend the same week negotiating scope with a CIO, designing the data architecture, writing production code, reviewing a teammate's pull request, and demoing a working build to the client. That is the job, not a phase of it.

Required qualifications

- Demonstrated ability to lead executive-level client conversations — running discovery, scoping, and stakeholder management end to end, independently.

- Hands-on full-stack application development. You can design and ship a working application yourself, front to back, today.

- Deep Azure expertise. You are genuinely strong on the Microsoft Azure stack and can architect, deploy, and operate production solutions on it.

- Cloud-agnostic fluency. Azure-deep, but comfortable moving across clouds — practical working knowledge of Google Cloud (GCP) is expected, since we operate there

as well.

- Applied AI and data delivery. A solid track record on AI/data projects — building data pipelines, analytics solutions, and AI/ML-enabled products (including LLM and agent integration). You don't need to be a research-grade data scientist; you need to be able to

architect and ship AI solutions that work in production.

- People and delivery leadership. Proven ability to assemble, lead, and raise the bar on a multidisciplinary technical team while remaining a contributor yourself.

- Ownership instinct. The kind of person we can drop into an account and not think about again — except to watch it grow.

Strongly preferred

- Healthcare domain experience — clinical, claims, EHR/EMR (e.g., Epic-adjacent environments), or healthcare data and analytics. This is strongly preferred and a significant differentiator; we are a healthcare-exclusive firm.

- A management consulting background alongside the technical depth — the consulting instinct for problem framing, stakeholder navigation, and crisp communication.

- Relevant cloud certification (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect; Google Cloud Professional Developer/Architect).

- Experience in fast-moving, small-team or boutique delivery environments where the same person scopes, sells, and builds.

The technical environment you'll work in

- Primary cloud: Microsoft Azure

- Secondary cloud: Google Cloud (GCP)

- Stack: Full-stack application development on production-grade infrastructure and data

pipelines.

- AI/Data: Applied AI/ML, GenAI and LLM/agent integration, data and analytics engineering — pragmatic, shipped, and maintainable.

- Team archetypes you'll lead: data/analytics engineer · full-stack developer · ML/AI engineer · analyst · program manager · Principal/technical lead (you).

What success looks like

First 90 days: You've taken ownership of an account, earned the trust of its senior stakeholders, stood up your strike team, and shipped something real that the client can use.

First 6–12 months: Your accounts are growing because of the quality of what you deliver. Your team is operating at the BENZAIT standard without you having to hold every thread. The founder no longer worries about your accounts — which is the entire point of this hire.

Compensation & what we offer

We compensate this role as the investment it is — competitive with the senior cloud-architect market on base, with meaningful upside tied to the growth you create.

- Base salary: $195,000–$235,000, commensurate with experience and depth.

- Performance & expansion incentive: target 20–35% of base, earned on account growth, delivery quality, and margin — structured so that doing the work exceptionally well is what drives it.

- On-target earnings: approximately $250,000–$310,000.

- Relocation bonus: available (not required) for candidates relocating to New Orleans.

- Work model: remote-first, with travel as specific client engagements require.
