The Epic Cogito Developer builds and maintains the Epic reporting content that clinical and operational teams rely on for day-to-day decisions. This is a hands-on development role focused on producing well-formed, reusable reporting assets across Epic's Cogito toolset.
The developer builds reporting content to BENZAIT's standards and submits it through the established release process.
Beyond build, the developer is a working resource to the teams that use Epic reporting, helping Informatics, Epic application teams, and Data & Analytics analysts apply Cogito tools effectively to their reporting goals.
Essential Job Functions
- Build across the Cogito toolset. Develop and maintain SlicerDicer data models, Reporting Workbench reports, and Radar dashboards, keeping configurations consistent, documented, and reusable.
- Develop Cogito SQL and reporting content. Build, tune, and template the SQL behind clinical and operational reporting, establishing reusable patterns rather than one-off queries.
- Maintain SlicerDicer models. Design and maintain SlicerDicer data models so that self-service users work from trusted, well-formed data, within the access and security framework set by BENZAIT.
- Support and enable the teams using Epic reporting. Advise analysts across multiple teams on how to accomplish their reporting goals using Cogito tools.
- Follow established standards and change control. Prepare reporting content to BENZAIT's standards for accuracy, naming, versioning, validation, and documentation, and submit it through the existing release process for publication by authorized internal staff.
- Serve as a hands-on reporting resource. Field technical questions and unblock analysts on Cogito reporting build.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Active Epic Cogito Tools Administrator certification is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, and Radar.
- Strong SQL skills (Oracle SQL and T-SQL / SQL Server), including writing, tuning, and templating the queries behind Epic reporting.
- Hands-on Epic reporting build experience. Demonstrated experience building and maintaining SlicerDicer data models, Reporting Workbench reports and templates, Radar dashboards, and Cogito SQL reports and templates.
- Experience working with Clarity and Caboodle as reporting databases in a healthcare setting.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with DBAs, analysts, and clinical and operational stakeholders, explaining reporting capabilities and constraints; strong written and verbal communication.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic Data Courier badge
- Epic Clinical Data Model and/or Caboodle Development certification.
- Caboodle data warehouse development experience (custom data models, ETL, DataMarts).
- Epic Custom SQL Metrics badge and/or Custom SlicerDicer Models and Filters badge
- Additional Epic Cogito certifications (for example, Cogito Project Manager, application-specific Clarity Data Model).

Salary
W2 Hourly Rate: $65 (US) per hour. The salary range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
