Description

The Sales Associate’s primary focus is delivering an exceptional customer experience. Each day, you will help create a welcoming, engaging environment where customers feel valued and confident that all of their Bedner’s needs are met.

Most garden center positions are temporary and seasonal—ideal for individuals looking to earn extra income for approximately 6–8 weeks (mid-April through mid-June). While longer-term opportunities may be available for strong performers, they are not guaranteed.

SCHEDULING AND AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Due to the seasonal nature of our business—where more than 75% of annual sales occur during the spring—flexible availability is essential during our peak season.

Sales Associates must:

  • Be available to work at least two shifts per week
  • Be available for evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Have open weekend availability in May, our busiest month

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver 5-star customer service by assisting with plant selection and care advice, processing transactions, and helping customers load purchases into their vehicles
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and visually appealing store environment by keeping floors swept, displays organized, and walkways clear
  • Keep designated areas stocked with boxes and supplies
  • Unload delivery trucks and accurately tag new merchandise
  • Restock inventory from greenhouses as needed
  • Support plant health through watering, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, and pest monitoring
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Basic computer proficiency and point-of-sale experience
  • Previous retail or garden center experience preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Horticulture or gardening knowledge is a plus
PHYSICAL & COGNITIVE DEMANDS
  • Ability to perform physically demanding, labor-intensive work
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds or more
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and rain

Salary

$11.5 - $18 per hour
