Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Tailor to support our in‑house alterations services. This role is responsible for performing fittings, taking accurate measurements, and completing high‑quality alterations on a variety of garments. The ideal candidate has strong technical ability, a keen eye for detail, and a customer‑focused approach.

This is an on‑site position working closely with clients, sales associates, and store leadership to ensure every alteration meets Bavington Clothier’s standards for fit, comfort, and presentation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fittings and take precise measurements
  • Perform alterations on tailored menswear, womenswear, casual apparel, and formalwear
  • Complete hand‑sewing, machine‑sewing, pressing, and finishing work
  • Provide guidance to clients on fit, alteration options, and garment care
  • Collaborate with sales team members during client consultations
  • Maintain an organized, efficient, and professional workspace
  • Manage multiple alteration orders and meet promised timelines
  • Uphold Bavington Clothier’s standards of craftsmanship and service


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in tailoring and alterations (retail or alterations shop experience preferred)
  • Strong technical skills across a range of garment types and fabrics
  • Proficiency with sewing machines, sergers, and pressing equipment
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong communication and customer‑service skills
  • Ability to manage workflow and meet deadlines reliably
  • Professional, friendly, and team‑oriented demeanor
