Position Summary:
Battle Creek Family Care is seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our dedicated healthcare team. Under the direction of the provider, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to support the delivery of quality patient care. This includes preparing patients for examination, documenting clinical information, assisting with procedures, managing referrals, and supporting care coordination.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for exams, including obtaining patient histories, vital signs, and medication reconciliation
- Perform routine vision, hearing, and other tests
- Accurately document all clinical and administrative information in the EMR
- Review charts prior to appointments to ensure all required documents and requests are in place
- Administer treatments as directed by the physician
- Collect and process specimens (urine, blood, etc.) and perform basic laboratory testing
- Set up and assist physicians with procedures (e.g., laceration repair, pelvic exams)
- Schedule diagnostic tests or procedures (e.g., X-ray, MRI) and provide patient instructions
- Coordinate referrals, admissions, and prescription call-ins
- Stock and maintain exam rooms; manage daily inventory and report supply needs
- Answer and screen phone calls; assess urgency and determine appropriate action
- Assist patients in completing forms (e.g., Workers' Compensation, Disability)
- Attend staff meetings and ongoing training sessions as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by providers, nurses, or the practice manager
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
Must Meet One of the Following:
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification
- Eligible to take the CMA/RMA exam and must obtain certification within 6 months of hire
Certifications:
- Current BLS certification required
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in clinical skills appropriate to Medical Assistant certification/registration
- Effective problem-solving and prioritization abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
- Capable of working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- EMR experience strongly preferred; computer literacy required
- Excellent customer service and professionalism in all interactions
- Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with providers, staff, and patients
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- High levels of visual and mental concentration due to detailed and repetitive tasks
- Frequent standing and walking
- Lifting of light objects (up to 20 lbs) and assisting in lifting/moving patients
- Ability to perform tasks involving minor physical strain and fatigue
