We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Bateman Horne Center outpatient clinic serving patients with Infection Associated Chronic Conditions (IACCs). This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a dynamic environment, excels in clinical assessment and triage, wants to learn, and is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. The Clinical RN plays a critical role in managing complex patient needs, supporting providers, and ensuring safe, efficient clinic operations. The Clinical RN will work closely with the MA staff and the RN Case Manager.

Description

Key Responsibilities


  • Triage incoming patient calls, portal messages, and telehealth concerns using strong clinical judgment
  • Manage and support provider inbox workflows, including clinical review, prioritization, and response coordination
  • Oversee prior authorizations (PA) process for medications, procedures, and equipment, and manage more complex PAs as needed.
  • Oversee MA staff to ensure follow-through on care plans and patient needs
  • Assign patient visit Intakes to either MA or RN, depending on complexity
  • Oversee new patient medical records management and chart preparation
  • Collaborate closely with the RN Case Manager and providers to address complex or evolving
  • patient conditions
  • Assess and assist in managing acute and chronic patient issues through virtual care modalities and in-person to determine the appropriate level of care, including escalation when needed
  • Perform limited in-clinic nursing support and procedures
  • Prepare disability letters, letters of medical necessity (LMNs), FMLA, STD forms, academic accommodations, and medical documentation in collaboration with providers.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the Athena electronic medical record (EMR)


Patient Education


  • Provide patient education via phone, electronic communication, and in-person on diagnoses, medications, and care plans
  • Assist in developing educational packets and opportunities for group education.
  • Assist in developing educational tools in collaboration with the Education Director/Liaison.

 

Case Management for Complex Patients – Per RN Case Manager delegation

 

  • Assist in identifying case management for high-risk patients.
  • Provide interim RN check-ins and ongoing care coordination.
  • Communicate with specialists, family members, and home health agencies as needed.
  • Serve as a patient advocate for severely ill or homebound patients.


Administrative


  • Assist with onboarding and training of medical assistants, contracted providers, and other clinical staff as needed.
  • Work with CMIS on Athena EMR updates and staff training
  • Assist CMIS and CROM on staff education and training for emergencies and required clinical recertifications.


Qualifications


  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. BSN is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience (ambulatory or acute care preferred)
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical triage and remote patient assessment
  • Experience managing high-volume patient communication (calls, portals, telehealth, inbox)
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in telehealth and nursing triage roles
  • Familiarity with chronic disease management in outpatient settings
  • Experience with EMR inbox management and workflow prioritization
  • Procedural skills (e.g., injections, IV therapy, specialty treatments)
  • Familiarity with disability paperwork and medical necessity documentation

Salary

$40 - $45 per hour
