BasePoint internship, residents and fellows’ programs are for the primary benefit of interns, residents, and fellows. The following criteria must be applied when an intern will complete their internship with BasePoint.
- BasePoint and the intern, resident, or fellow clearly understand that they are not entitled to compensation for the time spent in the internship or rotation;
- The internship or rotation, even though it includes actual BasePoint operations, is similar to training which would be given in an educational environment, including the clinical and other hands-on training provided by educational institutions;
- The internship or rotation is tied to the intern or resident/fellow’s formal education program by integrated coursework or the receipt of academic credit;
- The internship or rotation accommodates the intern’s or resident/fellow academic commitments by corresponding to the academic calendar;
- The internship or rotation duration is limited to the period in which the internship or rotation provides the intern with beneficial learning;
- The intern or resident/fellow work complements, rather than displaces, the work of paid employees while providing significant educational or clinical benefits to the intern or resident/fellow;
- The intern or resident/fellow and the employer understand that the internship or rotation is conducted without entitlement to a paid job at the conclusion of the internship or rotation.
