Job Overview

The Elementary Physical Education Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and Christ-centered learning environment that promotes physical wellness, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits for students in grades K–5.

The ideal candidate will create lessons that are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and active while helping students build physical skills, confidence, and character. This role also supports the development of positive relationships and school culture through movement and play.


Responsibilities

  • Teach physical education classes for elementary students (K–5)
  • Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lessons that build physical literacy and motor skills
  • Create activities that promote teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, and perseverance
  • Foster an environment where students feel encouraged, challenged, and safe to participate
  • Integrate faith and learning by teaching stewardship of our bodies, character development, and servant leadership
  • Teach and reinforce healthy habits, fitness concepts, and active lifestyles
  • Monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback to students and families
  • Ensure safety procedures and equipment expectations are consistently followed
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to support school-wide initiatives and events
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student growth and participation
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, chapel, and school events

Requirements

  • A strong, personal Christian faith and commitment to BCA’s mission and vision
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Education, Exercise Science, or a related field
  • Elementary teaching and/or physical education experience preferred
  • Passion for helping students develop healthy habits and positive attitudes toward physical activity
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
  • Ability to create structured, inclusive, and high-energy learning environments
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate physical education curriculum and instructional practices
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (preferred)
