About Us:

B-Town Brazadas Swim Club (brazadas.org) is a rapidly growing, USA Swimming affiliated club based in Bakersfield, California. Less than one year old, we are building a long-term, community-focused program from the ground up.

Our team trains in a brand-new, state-of-the-art 50-meter aquatic center and is committed to developing swimmers of all ages and abilities while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.

We are building more than just a swim team. Brazadas is focused on creating opportunities for athletes, families, coaches, and the community through competitive swimming, swim instruction, and community engagement.

Overview:

The Head Senior Coach leads the training and development of our B-Team, serving primarily high school-aged athletes within the Brazadas program. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality coaching, preparing athletes for competition, and building a strong, connected team culture focused on performance, leadership, accountability, and community engagement.

Reporting to the Aquatics Director, this position also supports additional training divisions, contributes to Masters programming, and helps strengthen Brazadas’ connection within the local swimming community.

This is an ideal opportunity for a coach who wants to help build and shape a growing organization while taking on increasing leadership responsibility over time.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching Leadership

  • Lead daily training sessions for B-Team athletes
  • Design seasonal training plans focused on technique, endurance, strength, and race strategy
  • Prepare athletes for championship-level competition
  • Provide technical instruction, race feedback, and athlete goal setting
  • Foster a positive, structured, and accountable training environment
  • Attend and actively coach at swim meets
  • Coach 2–3 Masters workouts weekly
  • Support additional training groups as needed
  • Collaborate with coaching staff on athlete progression and program development

Program and Community Leadership

  • Help support and grow all areas of the organization alongside leadership staff
  • Support Swim School and Swim League programming as needed
  • Build strong relationships with athletes, families, and the local swim community
  • Collaborate with local high school programs to support athlete development
  • Assist with clinics, camps, outreach events, and community engagement initiatives
  • Participate in staff meetings and strategic planning

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7–8 years of competitive swim coaching experience
  • Senior-level coaching experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of stroke mechanics, training methodology, and long-term athlete development
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Structured, proactive, and community-minded mindset
  • Business-minded with an understanding of program growth and retention
  • Current USA Swimming coach member in good standing, or ability to obtain prior to hire
  • CPR, First Aid, and Coaches Safety Training or Lifeguard certification, or willingness to obtain
  • College degree preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000 annually, with potential for higher compensation based on experience, qualifications, and long-term leadership potential.
