Axle Box Innovations Electrical Engineer I College Station, TX · Full time

General Summary: The Electrical Engineer I will be responsible for developing the electrical drive and control systems for an experimental all-electric tracked material handling robot. This role may also involve sensor selection and integration on a variety of Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) platforms. This role is also responsible for effectively recording and cataloging project progress, creating wiring diagrams and circuit schematics, and troubleshooting electrical issues throughout the fleet. This position will report to the Lead Engineer.

Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, with competency in embedded systems, soldering, PCB design, RF control systems, coding, and DC motor control systems.
  • Must be proficient with Fusion360, SolidWorks, and/or other CAD software.


Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge or experience with heat management in electrical systems
  • Knowledge or experience with additive manufacturing/rapid prototyping
  • Knowledge or experience with high voltage (48V-72V) systems.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability and to work outdoors or in a shop exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat.
  • Ability to move up to 50 lbs without accommodation.
  • Ability to work with basic hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to travel to numerous Axle Box facilities in BCS area.

Essential Duties and Tasks:

  • Uses engineering principles to develop and apply design recommendations as required to correct/resolve difficult and complex problems.
  • Participates in the conceptualization, design, and production of new products and system modifications.
  • Makes off the shelf electrical component selection, creates circuit diagrams, integrates electrical systems into physical frameworks and machines.
  • Generates physical frameworks such as housings through rapid prototyping techniques.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by creating, learning, and complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Reports unsafe or dangerous conditions to Supervisor or to HR/Admin.
  • Ensures safe operation of machinery and mechanical/electrical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, cleaning workstations, sweeping and mopping the floor, etc.


Salary

$55,000 - $65,000 per year
