Awetomaton Senior DevOps Engineer Wright Patterson AFB, OH · Full time

Awetomaton is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. In this role you will interface directly with algorithm development teams offering Kubernetes adoption guidance. Utilizing cutting edge cloud native tools, you will be responsible for guiding teams in processing and exploitation of large volumes of sensor data that meaningfully contribute to US national defense. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in technology and 10-15 years of experience. This position will largely be performed at government site with personally allocated hardware enabling efficient customer support. Availability is desired immediately. Active Top Secret security clearance required.

Criteria for success

  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with peers & decision makers
  • Demonstrate initiative when faced with limited guidance or ambiguous requirements
  • Conversant in modern Kubernetes distributions and orchestration of container workloads
  • High-level of comfort with Linux, automation tools and CI/CD build systems

Required Experience and Skills

  • Ten (10) years of minimum experience in a software focused engineering career (Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, System Administrator, etc.)
  • Bachelor of Science in IT or Engineering discipline
  • Mastery of software configuration management using Git.
  • Strong background in Linux based development or administration
  • Expertise in one or more software development languages (Golang / Java / Python / etc.)
  • Familiar with Container Technology (Docker / podman / etc.)
  • Familiar with software development targeting PaaS (Kubernetes / Mesos / Nomad / etc.)

Desired Education and Experience

  • Master of Science in IT or Engineering discipline
  • Familiar with packaging and deployment tools for Kubernetes (ArgoCD, Helm, etc.)
  • Experience with container orchestration systems such as Argo Workflow
  • Understanding of DoD Authority To Operate (ATO) requirements
