The IT Systems Engineer will provide Tier 2 system administration support for Navy enterprise infrastructure. Responsibilities include system monitoring, patching, configuration management, and troubleshooting across Linux, Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualized environments. The role also involves maintaining privileged access solutions, supporting incident and change management processes, and ensuring compliance with Navy standards. This position requires both technical expertise and a commitment to operational excellence in support of Fleet missions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 2 system administration support: identify, triage, and resolve outages, escalating when required.
  • Monitor enterprise systems and infrastructure to ensure high performance and availability.
  • Perform daily maintenance, updates, patches, configuration corrections, and deployments.
  • Operate and maintain privileged access, incident management, and change management processes.
  • Manage and maintain asset management and configuration management systems.
  • Verify failover and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Deploy and maintain VMs within VMware vSphere and other virtualized environments.
  • Support automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform).


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field and 2+ years of experience in enterprise architecture/system administration (or equivalent military/technical experience).
  • Hands-on experience with Linux, Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy.
  • Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar).
  • Experience with VMware vSphere for VM deployment.
  • Working knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN devices.
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ and OS Certification required).
  • U.S. Citizen with active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Ability to work shifts (7 AM – 3 PM), cover rotating on-call duties, and travel up to 25%.


Desired Skills

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, RedHat Linux, or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
  • Familiarity with Nautobot, RHEL Satellite, InfoBlox DDI, or RedHat Linux 8.
  • Experience with containerization, Jenkins, and automation pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, and subnetting.
  • Ability to collaborate with Navy stakeholders, vendors, and engineering teams in high-availability environments.

$75,000 - $100,000 per year
