Description

Position Summary

The Accountant plays a critical role in managing accounting and tax functions for pharmacy operations and related business entities. This position requires a strong background in tax preparation, bookkeeping, and financial management for both tax firms and private companies, with specialized knowledge of pharmacy industry financial practices. The ideal candidate will manage multi-entity accounting, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute strategic insights to optimize tax savings and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with CPA tp prepare tax returns for individuals, LLCs, trusts, and pharmacy-related business entities.
  • Provide tax planning advice focusing on savings strategies relevant to pharmacies, LLCs, and trusts.
  • Oversee daily bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice processing, and ledger maintenance. Working with McKesson for all payables is a plus.
  • Manage accounting for multiple related companies within the pharmacy group, including financial consolidations and intercompany transactions.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and manage vendor payment processes timely and accurately.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy management and external auditors to support smooth audits and reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, cash flow, and budget adherence for pharmacy operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local tax laws, particularly those impacting healthcare and pharmacy sectors.
  • Train or supervise junior accounting staff as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or relative experience.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years accounting experience, including:
  • 5 years at a tax company with comprehensive tax knowledge.
  • 5 years managing accounting for private companies or groups with multi-entity structures.
  • Specific experience working with pharmacies or in pharmaceutical accounting strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and other financial/accounting software.
  • Solid understanding of tax laws, savings strategies, LLCs, trusts, and bookkeeping practices.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Salary

$45,000 - $60,000 per year
