A day in the life (just a few of the things you may do on any given day):

As an Athlete Placement Specialist, you will be responsible for facilitating the placement of student-athletes in appropriate college athletic programs. Your primary objective will be to help student-athletes navigate the recruitment and placement process, ensuring their successful transition from high school to college athletics. You will serve as a resource and guide, working closely with student-athletes, coaches, and college recruiters to maximize placement opportunities.


As an Athlete Placement Specialist, some of your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Providing comprehensive guidance to student-athletes regarding college athletic programs, eligibility requirements, and the recruitment process.
  • Assisting student-athletes in developing and enhancing their athletic resumes, highlight videos, and other relevant materials for college applications
  • Advising student-athletes on academic requirements, NCAA regulations, and standardized testing (e.g., SAT, ACT) to ensure eligibility for college athletics
  • Contact our athletes roughly every 6 weeks to ensure the athletes recruiting is on track
  • Developing and implementing a recruitment strategy to establish connections and build relationships with college coaches, recruiters, and athletic programs
  • Attending relevant events such as college showcases, tournaments, and conferences to network with coaches and promote student-athletes
  • Utilizing various channels, including online platforms, email, and phone calls, to communicate and advocate for student-athletes with college coaches
  • Researching and staying up-to-date on college athletic programs, conferences, and divisions to identify suitable opportunities for student-athletes
  • Matching student-athletes with appropriate college programs based on their athletic abilities, academic aspirations, assessment and personal preferences
  • Collaborating with college coaches and admissions departments to ensure a smooth application and placement process for student-athletes
  • Guiding student-athletes through the college application process, including submission of required documents, essays, and application fees
  • Assisting in the organization and submission of necessary athletic paperwork, such as eligibility forms, transcripts, and recommendation letters
  • Providing support in preparing student-athletes for interviews, visits, and tryouts with college coaches and recruiters
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student-athletes’ profiles, contact information, recruitment progress, and placement outcomes in the CRM system
  • Generating reports and updates on the placement success rate, trends, and areas for improvement within the athlete placement program

What we are ideally looking for from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in sports management, education, counseling, or a related field
  • Previous experience in college athletics, athlete placement, or college counseling/advising
  • Thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations regarding student-athlete eligibility and recruitment processes
  • Strong knowledge of various college athletic programs, conferences, and divisions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively advocate for student-athletes
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple student-athletes and deadlines simultaneously
  • Familiarity with athlete recruitment platforms, databases, and technology tools
  • Passion for helping student-athletes achieve their academic and athletic goals
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with university staff, coaches, and college recruiters
  • Knowledge of CRM operating systems, Word, Excel and similar platforms
