The coaches and the AATC community help and support our members development and growth through honing individual skill, physical and mental training, focus, drive, determination and persistence towards excellence. Status: Part-time Employee (W-2)

Hours: 20–30 hours per week

Location: Onsite – Asheville, NC

Compensation: $27/hour

About the Role

The Asheville Archery Training Center (AATC) is seeking a Director of Programs & Operations, a community-minded leader who thrives at the intersection of people, programs, and purpose.

This is a growth-stage leadership opportunity to help shape the next chapter of a beloved, grassroots nonprofit. The Director oversees daily operations, leads program development, and strengthens community partnerships, all while staying true to AATC's mission and values.

No prior archery experience is required. If you have experience running youth programs, managing operations, or building community-based initiatives, we'll teach you the sport, especially if you've spent time in another precision or body-awareness discipline (like golf, martial arts, climbing, or fencing) or come from a coaching or athletic background. What matters most is your ability to organize, communicate, and lead with care.

The right person will be energized by building systems, strengthening programs, and creating a lasting impact that supports generations of archers to come. We're looking for someone with genuine passion for this mission.

What You'll Do

• Oversee scheduling, staffing, and day-to-day operations so every class and program runs smoothly.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and grow coaches and staff, building a positive and collaborative team culture.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for members and families, checking and responding to the AATC inbox and guiding members from first class through advancing levels with timely, warm communication.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked facility, including hands-on day-to-day upkeep.
• Lead planning and logistics for camps, tournaments, member meetings, and other events.
• Support donor relations, community partnerships, and fundraising efforts that sustain AATC's growth.
• Represent AATC in the community and help advance its mission and reach.
• Partner with the Board of Directors on strategic priorities, reporting, and organizational growth.

What We're Looking For

• Proven ability to rally and organize people, including recruiting, onboarding, and growing both staff and members over time.
• Experience running or supporting youth or community programs (coaching, camps, schools, recreation, or nonprofits).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized, with a reliable personal system for tracking tasks, deadlines, and follow-through across a busy, fast-moving role (we use Monday.com for task management).
• Experience with staff scheduling, program oversight, or operational management.
• Familiarity with membership or CRM software (we use Gymdesk) and Google Workspace, or comparable tools.
• Comfortable working hands-on, from leading a team meeting to helping keep the facility running.
• Commitment to mission-driven, community-based programming.
• A fast, hands-on learner who's genuinely excited to pick up archery fundamentals, so you can support and supervise coaches with confidence.
• Willing to obtain USA Archery Level 2 Instructor certification, Range Safety Officer credential, and SafeSport certification (training provided).
• Experience with fundraising, marketing, or partnership development is a plus.

Physical Requirements

This role involves regular physical activity, including moving equipment (up to 50 lbs), routine facility upkeep, and being on your feet during classes and events. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
